Hi! I am new to this board, but glad to find it! I am also newly diagnosed with ADD. I was first prescribed ADDERALL XR. But I didnt notice any changes even taking 2 30mg in the morning. My dr. now has put me on concerta 54mg. I am feeling really "drug out" no energy. This is strange to me, I also slept well but was realy groggy when I woke up. Is this normal.......? Please someone give me advice. I dont know what to look for as this is only my second day on concerta. Do I feel groggy because I am not used to this..... My main complaint was non concentrating, non organization, people always complaining I am not paying attention to them my mind wondering, interrupting others and not meaning to and very easlily distractible.
Am I feeling groggy because that is what a normal person feels like (make any sense...?) I know this sounds crazy! HELP
God Bless
Missy

54 Mgs sounds like a lot for a starter dose - feeling very sleepy is often a sign of the dose being too high with methylphenidate so it might be that your dose is too high? Normally you're started out on a low does and gradually work your way up to find your ideal dose.

I agree with "redhead" - 54mg is a HUGE dose to begin with (although maybe your doc was thinking that since you'd been on Adderall, you could tolerate it). You might want to talk to him about starting at lower dose and working up. Also, as redhead said, drowsiness is not unusual when you are getting used to a dose change.
