I keep on having strange headaches, but my head doesn't actually hurt per say more a strange feeling in the back of my head. I feel like I am in a fog, almost like I am drunk and a little nautious (msp). My balance is even thrown off a little. Does anyone know what this might be?

Get your atlas checked out. Sounds like it may be what I had for 4 yrs. A displaced atlas (c-1) can cause pressure in back of head which may spread ro face like mine did after a while. Some chiros can replace it...or btter yet a p.t. can do it manually..gently...let me know.

I am new here, but read all the time. You folks have the best information.
I have had a headache for around 1.5 years. I think they are cervical in origin, but have not confirmed that(although I have tried through countless dr.s & specialists - the last of which was this morning -one of the best neurosurgeons in MD. Anyway, most of the time my headaches are like a headband or rams horn pattern - with the pain being diffuse in head - sharp in the eyebones and temples, sometimes its bad around the occipital and neck is usually stiff.
Last year, I started getting these weird headaches like a hangover with dull malaise and lasting a LONG time all day and wake up with it. They subsided, the cervical stayed... the last 2 days the hangover headache is BACK. I also get alot of gas with them. I yawn constantly and my eyes burn.
If anyone out there can help with this please respond. I was going out of my mind with the other headaches, but these are ready to do me in. I'm crying thru my Prozac - which is really hard to do.
thanks for listening. and sorry to martinifreak - I would love to help you. Please let me hear from you if you have gotten any help.

This almost exactly describes the symptoms I've been having for almost 3 months now. Except I don't have the nausea. I would describe the headaches as more pressure than pain. The fog-feeling is the worst though. Have you been to a doctor yet?

This is the first time that I have posted to these boards but I come here often to look for answers. For about a year now I have had the same kind of headaches that you guys are talking about. I have mentioned them to my doctor but never really seem to get any answers. It really worries me at times. Like someone else said, it is more of a pressure than a pain. I feel it mostly in my temples and through the back of my head and neck. Along with the discomfort, I feel like I am in a haze. At times, if this happens while I am at a store or something, I actually feel like I may black out for a second. I've never come close to actually blacking out, but I just get a strange sensation that is hard to explain.
I know that we don't have any answers right now, but it really helps to know that others have felt this way too. Thanks!

I haven't been to the doctor yet and it hasn't happened again since then. When I go in for my yearly exam I will ask him what he thinks. I'm beginning to wonder if it has to do w/ my birth control.

I was thinking it may have something to do with my birth control pills also! Oh, I just love being a woman! lol

My symptoms can't be attributed to that because I am not on the pill. My headaches have eased in the last month or so but the fog feeling continues. I am just learning to live with it.

I have cut down on dairy and cut out aspartame and they have gotten better, so maybe it is food related

Hi folks,
Haven't been here in a while.. I'll forget where some of my favorite sites are and then find them again... I am going to a NEW neurologist tomorrow. I also have an appointment with another one at Hopkins in February. I saw a chiro and she said that I don't have a curve in my neck - which I don't - and they want to adjust and traction it all year to recurve it (simple explanation).
I haven't decided what to do , as my PT has said he has helped me all he can, and I still have this headache. I am really suffering this week, as last week wasn't as bad - the symptoms are wake up and yawn ALOT all day, have mild stomach upset, ache in my neck, especially occipital region and then the pain like an arrow in the temples, feels like I have a hangover, a general malaise, it feels so terribe ---but the worst offender is the eye headache - I almost feel like my eyes are messed up = not vision, but when I roll my eyes around in the socket it feels like knives - I really think this is related to my neck as it is stiff and tight in the trapezius. I am taking my muscle relaxer and pain meds at night, but I really like a diagnosis as this has been happening for well over 1.5yrs...
Anyone out there with a terrible eye headache, cervical disc disease, and a hangover feeling??? Love to chat with you.
Everyone stay well.
Syb
