The last few nights, all the sudden he is waking up hungry. He was sleeping 6-8 hours every night and now is waking up every 2-3. Do I continue getting up with him to feed him? I don't want him to be hungry if he's going through a growth spurt. (He has just started eating alot more during the day too.) Cereal before bed hasn't seemed to make one bit of a difference. I don't want him to get used to me getting up with him, though. The problem is, he's sleeping in my room right now until we move and have room for a nursery, so if he cries, I don't sleep. But am I contributing to his schedule disruption by getting up to comfort him?

Also, he's had a bit of a cold with some pretty bad nasal congestion and runny nose. Could this be waking him up? He's snoring and rattling when he is asleep. If so, what can I do for it? I've tried a humidifier and a use the suction bulb several times a day, but nothing seems to be helping.

My daughter is doing this too, must be something in the air! The cold could be keeping him up .. I know there is over the counter infant congestion medicine perhaps you should talk to your doctor about giving him some.

I figured that my daughter is teething and that was why she kept waking up in the middle of the night to eat ... she just wants company it appears .. at 2 am! *yawn*

I hope your son feels better soon, let me know what your doctor says about the over the counter infant congestion medicine!

If its a cold, you may just have to wait it out. Its likley that he is waking cause he isnt resting well, with the congestion. My daughter went through the same thing when she was 6 months old, and after a week, we went to the Pediatrician, cause her nose wasnt any better, and she had a silent ear infection that the Dr. said was making it uncomfortable for her to sleep. After the congestion and the earache subsided, she was sleeping better.

My girls (twins) are now 9 months old, and they have been getting up in the night again recently, and I gove them a bottle, but they prefer to play. If your sons waking up hungry, and taking the bottle, its very possible he is just growing, and needs the extra food right now. If hes taking his bottle, I would suggest keep letting him have it. But, if like my girls, hes just up for play and companionship, you may want to see if he will go to sleep on his own. I know thats hard when you share a room with baby, I STILL share mine with our girls. Makes for alot of restless nights!

Good Luck to you!!

Thanks for the replies. It could very well be a combination of the cold and teething. He's definitely teething, and I hadn't thought about that keeping him up because he's uncomfortable. Maybe some Tylenol before bed would help? The doctor has given me permission to use Tylenol for teething pain. I called the pediatrician about the cold and am waiting for a call back. I'll let you know what they say.
