I have a very dumb question (I know there ARE no dumb questions..but)
About 3 years ago, I had a TREMENDOUS flu, high fever, cough, phlegm, awful headache, chest pain (like it was on fire). It lasted about 10 days and I coughed so much, that I think my tonsils moved (or at least that how it feels). The doc gave me some major antibiotic and eventually it went away. However, since then, I feel like I constantly have a minor cold. It's more like I always have 'stuff' in my lungs. Not a morning goes by when I have to blow my nose and cough up a bit (gross, sorry)
Also, when I laugh I've been left with a slight wheeze! (as well as a strange snorting sound that sometimes comes from my throat - hence the "moved tonsils" I don't smoke and never did.
All I can think is that I actually had pneumonia that time and the doc didn't diagnose correctly therefore, never clearing it all up.
Now everytime I get a cold (as I have now) It seems it ALWAYS goes into my lungs and I end up with some major coughing attacks or bad flu.

Any thoughts? Why do I have this constant cold-like feeling in my lungs?? and what's this wheezing and snorting??
I've told my doctor and all she says is that it's probably allergies.... :confused:

You may very well have allergies, but to me it sounds like you have asthma. Are your tonsils chronically infected? Will she send you to an ENT so you can see about getting them removed?

Why not ask this question also in the asthma forum....others there are very up-to-date as to the symptoms and meds for asthma.

You sound a lot like I did before I was diagnosed.
So, does asthma or eczema run in your family? Do you have eczema?

Just some food for thought. Don't waste time to get it diagnosed..chronic anything left untreated can just increase intensity.
It's not something to take lightly, and it doesn't sound as if it'll go away on its own.

My mom had asthma during her 30's (and I'm almost there). I didn't think about that. It sucks that nowadays one has to be their own doctor.
If you don't mention tests the docs don't even think about it....
