I have finally found somewhere/someone that understands what I'm going through.
My symptoms started after a very minor fender bender, I was rear ended 2 days before my wedding! I thought nothing of it.
About a month later I was driving and everything started spinning. I closed my eyes and it stopped (thank God).
Since then I have had the "foggy" feeling like all of you talk about, the uneasy floating thisn and of course the dizziness, and pressure in my head. I went to a GP and she thought I was nuts gave me Dramamine and told me to go to Physical Therapy for my neck. But my neck doens't hurt. The physical therapy is not helping the dizziness.
My poor new husband thinks I'm nuts too, no one understands, I'm getting very frustrated and have only been having these symptoms for about 2 months. Does anyone think the ccident could have triggered this, or maybe it's not related at all?
I'm so happy I found this board, pleae feel free to e-mail me at work, [removed]. Thanks Erika

Hi, Erika!
I have read so many times that BPPV can come after an accident. Have you had any more trouble with the actual spinning? You will find alot of information and help on these boards. Subs is just filled with information and has recently posted alot of good information. Just go thru and read the posts that have the name Subs30.
So sorry this has happened to you. It is very difficult to cope with and it sure makes it worse when you are not understood. This board is a blessing cause we ALL understand! It is not in your head! It is very real and very hard to manage. But, I would encourage you to get as much information as you can, cause the wrong approaches can land up hindering your recovery. Ask lots of questions. We are here to help you as much as we can!!!
Vicki
P. S. Make sure to share this information with your husband so he can get along side of you and understand more of what you are dealing with. Hopefully, yours will be short-lived!
One encouraging note. If you do have BPPV, a manuever called the Epley can actually fix you on the spot. I have read lots of stories and have talked with a woman here in my own town that went in, got the Epley done and walked out dizzy-free! It happens and could be your case!

Thank you so much for answering and understanding-it is so reassuring. I have a feeling it is related to the accident.....I have had a few split seconds where I feel like things may be "trying to spin" but I can usually concentrate take a few deep breathes and stop it. Usually.
I have been reading these posts all day long at work, I can't concetrate on anything else anyway.
I will mention The Epley thingto the doctor, should I go to another Gp or just skip them altogether, I really don't feel like wasting my time with Doctors that don't listen-how frustrating.
My husband is very supportive and I will show him this info-he is just as frustrated as I am.
Thanks again. Erika

Hi!
The best doctor to see is a neuro-otologist. An ENT can be helpful depending on what they have educated themselves about dizzy disorders. The ENT I went to is the one that did the Epley on me. He is great for those who it cures right away. He didn't know what to do with me after it was obvious I wasn't getting better right away. I see you live in Nebraska. There is a vestibular disorders organization that lists the doctors in your state that do the epley and who are knowledgeable in the areas of inner ear disorders. Look under google for vestibular disorder organizations and you will find it. I would type in the website but I am not sure if I am supposed to.
Anyway, it is very crucial to get good information. There are things I would have done very differently if I knew on the onset of this thing that I know now.
Unfortunately as much information as we can find, it is an area that is hard to diagnose exactly. The balance center in Chicago that I talked to told me that inner ear disorders unfortunately are pretty new in the field of medicine and haven't been really looked into with great depth until about the last five years. But much has been discovered and with the right direction most can and will recover!!!
Anyway, let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. It is a wonderful thing to have a husband who is there with you! I have been married nearly 27 years and my husband has been amazing! I am blessed! These times can actually draw you both closer together when you look at this thing as a team.
Take care!
Vicki

Again, thank you so much and I will look for the info on Doctors and try to keep you posted. I read your slipper story-how cute:)
I went to work the other day with one brown and one black shoe-never done that before! So strange.
Have a great weekend. Thanks for giving me some hope. Erika
