You should try the FreshLook For Dark Eyes contacts, they don't look "fake". I have them in the color Turquoise (and I have naturally dark brown eyes). I know the color Turquoise sounds like it would be too bright or fake looking, but in blending with your dark brown eyes, it does not. Sorry, can't tell you exactly where to get them, because I'd be violating the board rules...but there are websites.

I was always interested in getting colored contacts also. My eyes are green and I would like to have blue eyes for a change of color. All the color contacts I have seen people wear look fake. My eye doctor has freshlook contacts. I asked how they looked and she said in her opinion they look fake. I don't know because I haven't seen anyone wear them. Now, the people with light color eyes that wear the enhancing contacts, they look real.
I did check out their website, (can't list it, against the rules) and they do have a coupon to get a free trial pair at your eye doctor. Do a search on the internet for it. I might get a trial pair to see for myself....

Why exactly do they look fake? Are they too bright or something?

that's one of the immediate thoughts that crossed my mind when i looked at photos i had taken where i was using my colored contacts.. i looked like one of those long-dead vampires with my light grey contacts! after that i was really self conscience about whether or not it was really that obvious.... one thing that seems to help is using a double coat (or more) of dark mascara. that seems to shade the eyes from light, making it harder to detect that you're wearing colored contacts.
p.s. would the contacts made for light eyes have any effect on dark eyes? has anyone ever tried this? depending on how much color you want..... it could work.... ?

i'm not sure maybe it's a slight change that you can't see but i really hope there are contacts out there that look real

Hello,
I work at an eye doctor's office(but I'm not the doctor), and one of my jobs is to dispense contact lenses. The brand that offers the most color options is definitely freshlook, as has many of you have already suggested. They have contact lenses designed especially for light eyes and others designed especially for dark eyes. However, one thing I always tell all of my patients when they come in to try new colors is that every color will look different on every person, because each person's eye color is different to begin with. The best way to pick a lens that doesn't look "fake" is to simply make an appointment and try on different colors until you find one that you like. And yes you could try on lenses designed for light eyes even if you have dark eyes, because again, they will look different on every person. You might not like the results, and sometimes there might not even be a change, but there should be some color out there that you like.
Hope this helps!

This is exactly what my sister did she went somewhere and bought freshlook contacts she also told me how she tried different kinds on and the lady working with her said the green ones looked good on her but when i saw them i was really suprised because i thought that they would look real, i remember a while ago i saw a celebritiy on a music video and she was wearing contacts i also knew for a fact that her natural eye colour was black and the contacts looked really natural on her.
