How and why does excess body weight and lack of activity effect respiratory and cardio systems? and what are some ways to decrease the risk of this happening?

My cardiologist says I have pulmonary hypertension(Pressure on the right side of my heart).He says it is from the excess wt.So I guess the weight rests on the heart and makes it work harder.His solution-the usual diet and exercise.

Hi, the excess weight does lay on your heat and other organs,including lungs(sleep apnea) Think of it this way, if you dont get up and get motivated to get your heart and lungs moving,then they get used to that certain set point of inactivity,and when you finally get up and around it greatly strains these organs because they have to learn to work hard enough to keep your body at peak levels for oxygen and pumping blood throughout you system also.It is improtant to maintain your ideal body weight, and exercise often to keep your systems working properly,low impact areobics, water areobics and just plain old walking are easy ways of decreasing this form happening.

why obesity is so bad, in my opinion is the way it is acheived, the excess fat is not the bad that causes it but how the weight was gained, I have very high blood pressure have all my life and I have not been overweight all my life either, my mother had it all her life and she has always been slim.
fat is for survival insurance during a famine, trouble is people don't understand how to get rid of it without famining(dieting restricting food groups portion control etc).
excess weight does mean the body has to work harder and that could only cause wear and tear, but so does yo yo dieting to and people who manage to fight their bodies to lose alot of weight and maintain it, their bodies are being damaged on a daily basis and they haven't made the connection of their restrictive eating to maintain weight loss and their health problems.
they are too busy focusing on overweight people they fail to tell us how many slim people have problems too espeically if they dieted their weight off and keep it off through caloiric controls.
