Hi I'm a bit new to all this. but i was wondering if anyone of you could help? i suffer from hemiplegic Migraine (left sided weakness) one headache every3 weeks or so but last july i started fitting when i had a headache so Docs said i had Epilepsy!!!! i taken 3 different tablets for the epilepsys. still fitting but only when i have a H/A or gettting one. When i go back to Docs and tell then this they higher up the dose of the tabs. I now on 1400mgs of Epilim a day.25mgsof amitriptyline for the migraines. My problem is they won't let me drive untill the have the fitting controlled and i finding this the hardest part of all you see i live a bit away from my family and getting the kids to school is a nightmare. I can cope with the headache (well just about) and i never use to be able to drive when i had a H/A but when I feeling fine there nothing worse then being stuck in when i could be out with friends of shoping being in most of the time is gettitng me Down. sorry for going on But there seems to be talk about Migraines and Epilepsy being Locked in togetter, and you see somehow i don't think i have epilepsy i think the fittting has something to do with the headache because if it was just epilepsy the tablets whould keep it under controll ???? I had all the test MRI CT scans and the EEgs but there all clear, yet the keep saying its Epilepsy. please any info, thanks sue

What is "fitting"? Are you seeing a Neurologist? Why don't you think you have epilepsy?

Hi sorry i didn't make myself clear, when i say fitting i mean seizures. I seen 2 neurologist and all the tests are clear. The reason i way i think i don't have epilepsy is the amount of tablets i'm on I should be clear of seizures that one thing all the Doc's argee and they can't make out why I'm still having seizures
thanks for your time su

I used to have up to 30 siezures a day. Complex partial and grand mals. I was on seizure meds for over 10 years and tried them all and none of them prevented my siezures. Epliepsy and treating it is a big guessing game and you are just a guine pig for them to try meds on until they find one that you will respond to. Some people never have full control of their siezures. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for your time I supose your right about the Doc's but sometimes i feel as if they don't listen to me or they think I'm making it up. it the same with the migraines they come out with thing like "are you sure your getting them that ofen" or the best one of all was "the pain can't be that bad"
I'm lucky as my family Doc has his own killer migraine as he call them but somehow the neurologists don't seem to understand I've even gone to a migraine clinc in the biggest hospital in Ireland(sorry thats where i'm from) and at one stage i was told it was all in my head (God only know how much time that Doc study for)
Do you drive now? is your siezures under control

Yes my siezures are under control. Ten years ago they just stopped happening one day. I am not on any meds and yes I can drive.
