I just found out that my insurance will no longer cover nonsedating antihistamines like the Allegra I'm taking. Claritin doesn't work for me. Can anyone suggest something else for me to try?

It is an awesome alternative. My insurance even paid for my irrigation kit my allergist gave me. creinha 10-22-2003, 04:57 PM Really? I tried nasal irrigation once and it hurt so bad I couldn't stand it. kathiadele 10-22-2003, 05:06 PM Look for a naturopath in your area that does NAET, give them a call and ask them questions about it. A lot of people in my community have had great results. Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique http://www.naet.com/subscribers/index.html I'm going through the treatments right now - have one more left. I can fill you in on how it worked for me once it's over, but right now my body is doing a lot of purging of old toxins, but I have had bad allergies and asthma for 35 years. People who have suffered from seasonal allergies have not had to experience what I am right now. Guess it depends on each individual. cymomtx 10-27-2003, 08:21 PM My allergist just took me off allegra and now has me mixing astelin & nasorel together in one bottle and using it twice a day. It works better then the allegra ever did. n7ynk 10-28-2003, 05:09 AM CREINHA: What did you use to irrigate with? There are products out there that do the trick for less than $25. If the salt mixture is not right, or the water is too cold or a little hot, the experience can me undersirable at best. And I certainly beleive different strokes for different folks. creinha 10-28-2003, 08:23 AM I mixed a solution I found on the web using sea salt and (I think) baking soda with lukewarm water. To the person who replied about the Astelin, was your allergy problem with runny nose, etc? My problem is with sinus problems resulting from allergies. Do you think that combination will work for my situation too? Cheri. cymomtx 10-29-2003, 07:27 AM Astelin for me is wonderful whenever I get the clogged feeling between my ears. It is a spray antehistimine. I typically do not have runny nose just sinus problems. jsh22 11-19-2003, 04:39 PM has anyone had any weird side effects from allegra-d? example would be dizziness, dead tired, etc? becky1954 11-19-2003, 06:49 PM Claritin didn't work for me either but I found that Clarinex does a lot better. I also use Astelin nasal spray for my itchy nose symptoms. |
