Hi im new to the board and am looking for some advice. Im a 23 year old female with dizziness symptoms for about 7 months now. My symptoms have never been the classic "spinning" but more like i feel like im floating all the time and i feel like the ground is moving beneath me. Im waiting for ENG results to come back but i was just wondering if anyone has experienced these symptoms. I try to keep as active as possible but it seems that my symptoms arn't improving over time as all the doctors say they should.

Hi Nicola,

Welocome to the boards!

Yep I can relate to all that you have written and its a most unpleasant feeling. I describe it as feeling 'off' all the time. Like you say sometime it is a floating feeling - not quite - but just like something is wrong and it makes me feel all lightheaded and horrible. Very typical of inner ear problems. As for the ground feeling its moving under me!! oh yes! and I call that imbalance - its a nasty feeling and makes me feel that there is something wrong with my balance and I am unsteady. But of course to any one looking at me I look just fine.

It makes me sort of lean on things to steady myself and its a horrid sensation that as you have discovered is pretty persistent.

As well as feeling that like I can get light headed and just feel not quite right in the head like I say something is off, can u relate?

I had lab's which is an inner erar viral infection - its causes imflammation in the lab of the ear which controls balance. The symptoms you describe are atypical of amild bout. Emys who uses this board too has a very similar problem and she too did not start with spinning just the same as you. After 14 months of it she too has been diagnosed with the after effects of lab's.

She has a bug at the moment so I am not sure when she will be on here but I am sure she will reply.

Its good that you had an ENg done - dont be shocked if its normal that semms pretty common even when there is an inner problem.

Has the ENT came up from any suggestions?

Dont worry !!

Hi Ilia and Nicola - i am here, feeling rather weak but will type you a message! Nicolah, I am 24 and as Ilia says have had what you are describing for a while (quite a while) - they have diagnosed Labrinthitis. My ENg was normal so do not despair if yours is too - it doe s not mean you dont have an inner ear problem. Your symptoms sound like inner ear - is the dark worse for you? Do you get dizziness with head movements? xxx

Hi emsybobs-
Yes my dizziness gets worse in the dark or when i close my eyes I have been diagnosed with labs and other doctors just say its "stress" but i know my own body and i know what i am experiencing is not stress since it wont go away. Ive had an MRI and it came out negative so i guess thats the only good news i have right now.
