i just got off the phone with my Otologists office and next monday i have the "consultation" for a chloric test, not the actual test! it took me over 3 months to get in for this appointment so now what, i'm going to have to wait another 3 months? i'm so sick of this crap! i'm just about ready to freak out not to mention the added stress of exams starting tomorrow. i thought i was on my way to recovery but thanx to Ontario's wonderful health care and shortage of doctors that doesn't seem like it will ever happen.

Hi Anastasia,
Sorry to hear that, sounds like Canada is a bit similiar to England when it comes to healthcare and waiting lists. What are your symptoms at this stage, I know you had an attack of vertigo, is that still happening?
Anyway, good luck with your exams - you'll be surprised what you're capable of despite the foggy head - even at my foggiest I managed a really tough piece of work, not sure how, but I did.
Hope you're ok Anastasia, let us know how you're getting on,
best,
hbep.

hi Hbep,
ya i'm still getting vertigo, not the spinning kind, it just looks like the world is "moving". very unnerving! i'm still kinda bummed because i was hoping to get this test done during my break from school. i'm in one of the hardest courses in the school so one day away is killer! i'm still amazed that i'm passing dispite this fog. it makes it very hard to concentrate. it's going to be scary when we start to work with higher voltages.
this fog is just overpowering sometimes. i also have seasonal depression and that might be putting me a little over the edge too. winter is always hard for me.
how have you been keeping? anything new on the medical front? i was wondering what they do for VRT, is it working for you? thanx for being a sympathetic ear. it makes me feel better knowing some one else is out in space with me:).
take care, talk to you soon

Hello Anastasia,
I've been going through 'the fog' for over 2 years now. I'm also quagmired in the Canadian medical system, although from what I've seen on various internet sites it's not much better elsewhere. I do believe that doctors do their best to help their patients, but in many cases their hands are tied by inadequate funding or patient overload.
That doesn't help us of course. I've found most of my information on support sites such as this, which is a sorry state of affairs considering, but at least we have the internet now to help us along, compared to just a few years ago.
I had one of my best days today in a long time, 'almost' no fog or feelings of vertigo. Worked all day and took our dogs for a long walk in the evening. And this without any help from the doctors!
I truly believe that our bodies have the ability to fight off infections (there are limitations of course), but in our case you can and will get over this.
The bad days, and weeks, and even months, suck!! Anybody living with this and reading this will agree. But it will get better, slowly.
At some point your body will attack the infection and bring it under control.
In the meantime, actively pursue a healthy lifestyle, keep up your spirits (yeah, I know, it's not easy), and take advice from your doctors for what it is - advice. They are not Einsteins, and they have no way of knowing what you're going through unless they've tolerated it themselves.
Take it from somebody who has been there and done that. Take it easy Anastasia. Ride through the rough times, and you'll be stronger for it.
