Well, the games my left eye play on me, still go on! Fact: I do need new glasses, but now and then, my left eye is so far off, it is ridiculous! Today has been one of those days. Whatever causes these changes obviously are taking place during sleep, because no changes happen in waking hours.

Once I get up, and see the mess, the mess stays there til either a change the next day or whenever. I have no diabetes, so other than very small beginnings of cataracts, I have no explanation, and no Dr. can give me one. The eye is extra smeared, images and all. Even the gradual change I've had is more exaggerated on worse days. I don't know what it is, but it sure is old by now! I just hope when I can afford new glasses, the appointment hits me on an "average" day!

Do you have "dry eyes", if so this could be part of the problem. If the oil glands in eyelids do not work well, it is possible that the "smear" is oil mixed with tears and looks like an oily car windshield.

Have you tried hot soaks for 15 mins at a time to help get better flow around eyes in order to bring in healing new blood supply? If not you might give it a try and see if it helps.

Have you been checked for Blepharitis and some of the other "itises"?

Hello, Marie--I sure do have dry eyes! It's a milder form, but still there. I'll have to try the hot soak thing. My Dr. never even mentioned such a thing. As far as I know, I've not been checked for blepharitis, unless my regular Dr. did, or the retinal specialist. They could have and I didn't know it.
