Suggestions/direction is most appreciated... 41yr old very fair skinned female:
DOES IT SOUND LIKE GALLBLADDER SYMPTOMS TO YA'LL OR ANYONE WHO'S HAD SIMILAR???
Symptoms about 4-5 mos.=
Gnawing pain (like a knuckle boring thru from inside) throughout the day with or without eating, about 2" below right ribcage about 2" from center of abdomen.
Also, constant gas. Use to have bm every morning...now only once every 2 days. Tea colored stools.
. . . . . . . . .
Ultrasound showed no stones but these findings per MD:
Gallbladder poorly distended.
Nonshadowing echogenic material is floating within the gallbladder.
No gallbladder wall thickening or biliary dilation is seen.
Poor distention of gallbladder could reflect chronic cholecystitis.
Material in gallbladder doesn't shadow, it cannot be confirmed as gallstones.
This could represent sludge or atypical stones.
Thanks for any contributions & good to you all, Bev

Go to the Liver Disorder board and read the post pain under right rib cage, or something to that effect. It is a Very VERY long post, but well worth it, I think it will really help you, or at least open some doors.

My pain is very similar to yours and I haven't figured it out yet and i have been dealing with this thing since May 2003. I have had most of the tests. I am sceduled to go to Emory next week and hopefully will get some better answers. I saw that you are from Marietta so you know about Emory. I know a lot of people who's problems weren't solved locally and had to go to the big city. I will keep the board posted if they find anyting.
My symptoms are constant URQ dixcomfort. About the same location as yours. Sometimes gets worse but it never completeley goes away. Gaseous all the time too.

Hi Bev. Sounds like it could be gall bladder. Has your doctor recommended a hida scan to check the function/output of the gall bladder? Of course, these tests are not 100%, since I had 2 "normal" hida scans and still had my gall bladder removed because of severe chronic pain in the upper right rib area radiating to the back, diarrhea, chronic nausea, weight loss, etc. Turns out my GB was severely inflamed, but this wasn't diagnosed until the doc actually got inside for a look.
Keep us posted on how you're doing,

Thanks so much for the input / responses...
I was given phenergan for pain, which made the pain disappear. (2 mos. ago @ emerg. room)...I took one last night & pain is gone, but I'm sure the cause of pain is still there....(Just started having pain again in the last 5 days)...I hope to have the cause taken care of most.
I'll be monitoring the board & inputting too, if I can help...
Good to all, Bev in Marietta, Ga
My hope is for everyone to have wellness...endeavor to persevere!
Nyxin, Thanks so much for the direction! :)
Keep me posted Actudan...I hope the visit to Emory will find the solution (what is URQ discomfort?) :)
Katie, Thanks also, for all your input! :)

Just went to my MD for my ultra sound results yesterday. Have same symptoms as you in same area. Have had a few times where my abdomen was very sore to the touch. Also one of the Gall Bladder symptoms is back pain at the lower right shoulder blade. I also have had bloating of the abodomen, I don't know it you have that or not. My results represented sludge filled gall bladder. My MD said that this is usually the first sign of the beginning of stones and He said it only takes one the size of a grain of salt to cause you problems. My wife had hers removed in her twenties and has no problem eating any types of food. Some people have minor problems with fatty foods. I am having it removed and it is a very common procedure now, being only a couple of slits to remove. I hope this helps you. I have had this for about the same amount of time and I am looking forward to this. Good luck
