To GI_Wild and others who are reluctant to let their caregivers help....please let them help you. The most frustrating days I have had were when my husband would be stubborn and try to do something himself. Usually it meant more work for me, to clean up something or fix something. It is very difficult for you to give up your independence, but equally difficult for a spouse to try to help and be rebuffed.
The biggest lesson we have learned as a couple was to let others help us. We have always been involved in helping other people in many different ways. But when it came time for us to receive help, it was much harder to accept than to give. We have a team of about 20 people who help us on a regular basis. I could not have gotten this far without them. And Mike has learned also, to let others do things for him. Sometimes we have no choice. And it is a blessing to them to be able to give of their time and talents to us.Accept the help and look at it as your way to bless them..... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/idea.gif
