Thanks, Slaughter for your input. The Ativan that Mike takes is the same as Lorazepam. We also have the morphine in the house, but have not begun it,yet. The Ativan is really helping him.(I call him Ativan man, now) The hospice nurse was here today and was quite impressed with his condition. She thinks the Ativan and obtaining a new bi-pap mask have really helped him relax and sleep better. He also takes Melatonin(natural sleep aid) and has been for a couple of years. Yesterday a friend also brought a pillow alarm button so he can wake me during the night if needed. He cannot speak and can make a grunt only with much effort.
He has a laptop with a speaking program that VocRehab and MDA got for him. It has been a lifesaver. He has had limited voice capacity for months and has not said recognizable words for weeks, now. He is an amazing man. Has a wireless card for the laptop, so he gets on the internet and finds medical equipment he needs and prints it out for the hospice people and the doctor!! He has a study Bible and the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer and several Christian music websites on the computer. That makes up his morning routine.
I am going to miss him so much. I do not know what I will do without him. Wish I didn't have to find out http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
