Hi, looking for any info on these two possible treatments. My dad was diagnosed last week, and I am in so much agony. We just can't believe it's true. Any help or support would be greatly appreciated.

Hello again. I now know your dad has ALS. I am truly sorry to hear that. How is he doing? Has he made an appointment with an ALS clinic? How are you and your family? It is the most devestating thing to find out. If there is anything you need, or if you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask us here. If I didn't have these people reading my posts and listening to me I don't think I would have made it very far. I will pray for you and your family in these upcoming trials and events you will face. One peice of advice I would like to share with you. I had two wonderful years with my dad. He was sick the entire time. But everything we got to say to eachother that we never said before, would have not gotten said if he wasn't dying. Take this time to spend with your dad. Get to know the real father that is inside. He is scared too. The memories you can have with the time left is too precious to waste. One thing my dad and I did with all the time we had was plan his funeral. That maybe to hard for some people, but we did it. Hey why not have it the way you want it. We even made a CD of music for everyone who attened his funeral. It took us a long time to make. It has 18 songs to remember him by. We burned 200 CD's and made all the labels for the cases. We passed them out at his funeral. I listen to his CD every day. It is something I can hold forever that we did together.
Anyway with your questions...The aides cocktail, When we heard about it we thought a huge breakthrough was about to happen. An aides patient who for some reason was having symptoms of ALS found that when he took his cocktail of meds his symptoms got better. They did a huge study on it later and I don't know what the conclusions were. I hope someone here knows because I would also like to know. As for the VEGF protein I havn't a clue. Again, I hope someone else knows. They have been doing a lot of studies lately. Let's pray for something that is better than Rilutek.
