I have gained a lot of weight, about 14 and half pounds, since my trouble started and they still are convinced I have ALS.
Has anyone else gained weight, as this could be something else wrong, as I have my doubts.

How long ago were you diganosed with ALS? After my father was diagnosed, that first year he did gain a little weight. When his legs started to atrophy he started to lose weight fast. In his last stages, before he passed awway, he lost a total of more than half of his weight. I am not sure if gaining some weight is typical in ALS but it happened with my dad. But, he lost it faster than he gained it. If you truly have ALS keep your weigh up. It helps the disease progress slower. The docs told us that if my dad could have kept his weight up he would possibly live longer. He had a hard time doing that toward the end. He was prescribed a high fat, high carb, and high protein diet. He didn't mind that much. He liked eating anything he wanted. My advise is for you to keep eating and keep as much weight on you as possible.
