Having surgery soon, on a Monday, which is my worse day for my IBS. I need to know what kinds of foods can I start eating a fewdays earlier that will produce, smaller and less bulky stools. Chicken? Fish?

I don't think it makes any difference --- you will be cleaned out before surgery unless it is real minor surgery that only requires a local ?? But, liquids produce the least bulk!

It's not intestinal surgery. The surgery is unrelated to my gut. So no, my gut won't be cleaned out prior to the surgery.

Normally on Mondays I defacate a ton and often. I want to avoid this so I don't have problems on the way to the hospital and during pre op and such. Heck, I'm not worried about the actual surgery, but I am worried about my Monday morning bowel movements. So I need to know what things I should eat a few days prior that will produce small bowel movements.

Thanks

I don't know if there are certain foods that can produce smaller bowel movements. I would suggest limiting the amount that you eat. That should produce smaller and less frequent bowel movements. May consider a juice fast also. However, a lot of IBS people hurt worse when they don't eat so the fast may not be the best thing. Good luck!

JeffH it pretty much doesn't matter what surgery your going for they usually want you not to have anything in your stomach.
I had a work accident where I got my hand mangled in a press accident and had my finger(ring finger) amputated.I went for surgery twice within 2 days and they never allowed me to eat anything and were even reluctant to give me any water till i had my first surgery. Then they held me in post op for 9 hrs and gave me a light meal.
They may not want your intestines empty but they'll surely want your stomach empty no matter what.
