Hi folks,
I am new, but read often and you guys are so great! I'll try to shorten this up - I have cervical disc disease(10+ yrs) that has required PT to resolve nerves & muscle spasms. I have tried every medication (naproxen, advil, elavil, prozac, midrin, triptans, all the muscle relaxers, and darvocet). I have been to most type of specialist to rule out TMJ,hormones, thyroid, etc. I have seen many "headache related doc's -neuro's, physiarty, PT, Orthopod, etc. - today I saw one of top neurosurgeons in MD. I believe that my headaches are cervical in origin. Usually they are a tight band around my head with most of the pain in my eye bones. Sometimes they are in the sub-occipital region, and usually they are accompanied by a tight neck- with all the muscles so tight and bad... now these headaches are basically constant.
I had a new type last year - a pressure in head with a hangover effect lasting all day. I get gas - both ends. I yawn constantly and my eyes burn really bad. These type went away. The cervical stayed. Now the hangover ones are back and they are driving me crazy! I don't know what to do. No one seems to be able to diagnose or treat - I'm at my wits end. Please if anyone can relate to these symptoms please respond. I am suffering and am so discouraged. I was getting handle on the cervical ones, but these are so ominous that I'm afraid. Thanks for listening.

Trying to find the right Doctor, the right Neurologist & the balance of meds for relief can take a long time, sometimes "years". You will need to find a Neurologist that specialiazes in migraines/headaches that will work with you in finding a management program that will work just for you. Check your yellow pages for a headache clinic. Sometimes hospitals have them depending on the area and/or type of neighborhood you live in.

Good Luck.

Dear Birdlady, I think the suggestion of going to a headache clinic or a pain clinic might be your'e best bet. You need to have a complete physical, with a cbc(complete blood count) and to be tested for thyroid disease, Many of your'e symptoms sound like you have an underactive thyroid. It can cause alot of things, including, headaches, extremely dry skin, tiredness, general feeling of illness, overweight, etc. Hope you can find a good dr that will treat you well, and find out what meds will work best for you. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find out. Hugs,Susan from Iowa
