I'm wondering if there's anyone else out there who's lost a significant amount of weight who has experienced a lot of muscle pain - esp in the low back? And if you know of anything that may help it?

I lost a 150lbs. I, too noticed pain in my back and hips. I went to see my chiropractor and she told me it was because my center of gravity had changed. She gave me a couple of adjustments and the pain was gone.
Hope this helps,
Sherrie

HELP ME!!! I would love to know how you guys lost the weight. I am so tired of being "morbidly obese".
And total CONGRATS to you both. That is something to totally be proud of. I totally envy you :D

I had Gastric Bypass Surgery in order to lose the 150 lbs. I had done the diet merry go round all of my lfe and I just couldn't take it anymore. Surgery is definately a major decision, but I am glad I did it.

Pi - That is so great!! I am glad that you have had such a success with your surgery.
My dr. won't really discuss it with me - he says that I can do it if I set my mind to it, but I really do feel like such a failure. My current weight is 230. It has been the same since I had my baby jan. 2002.
He did give me phentermine though, but I just don't care for it.

When I went in for surgery I weighed 313.5 lbs. So it really was a life saver for me. Honestly, you may not weigh enough for the surgery. It is considered for people that are 100 or more pounds overweight or people that have what they call "comorbidities", such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea.
With the help of a smaller stomach, I still have to watch what I eat. I had sugery 1 year and 9 months ago. I have to eat protein first, then complex carbs. I find that if I eat my protein first I am not as hungry. It kind of sounds like Atkins in a way. Have you tried the Atkins diet? Maybe you could modify it to fit your lifestyle.
Good Luck,
Sherrie
