My younger brother was recently treated for prostate cancer. Because of that I had a physical with DRE and PSA. I was concerned about urinary frequency.
My DRE was normal and my PSA was .6 and all the other tests were normal too but I still urinate 6 or 7 times a day including getting up once at night. What frequency of urination rate is considered a sign of prostate cancer? Other than this frequency I have no other symptoms.
I'm still worried about this even though my doctor says my anxiety/fear of prostate cancer is causing the frequent urination.

Randy2,
You don't mention your age or dietary habits-that would help. Getting up once at night! A lot of us would love to claim that! Getting up 5 or more times a night would be more suspicious. 6 or 7 times a day isn't all that unusual. Depending on your age, benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) or prostate enlargement could be an issue, but again your night pattern says no. Having a brother with prostate cancer doubles your chance of developing it. Keep getting a yearly PSA & DRE to ease your mind

Thanks for the reply. I'm 53 and my diet is good. Mostly chicken and fish. And I don't drink that much fluid. And yes, its a problem more of daytime frequency and not really nighttime. It averages 5 or 6 times during waking hour (6AM to 10PM) and once at night. Sometimes I'll have to urinate again within 2 1/2 hours of having gone. The pattern does not quite fit BHP or prostate cancer from what I've read. So far no other symptoms like pain or burning or reduced stream but with my brother having prostate caner, the odds double. So its a real worry and I'm trying to stay ahead of any symptoms that might develop.
According to my doctor, after he did the DRE, he said my prostate was the size of a 25 year old. So its all sort of a mystery.
