For urinary problems such as that, I have had great result with "Marshmallow Root". I made these herbal teas from bulk herbs, about one ounce at a time in about a quart or two of water (about 1 to 2 liters or so). I brought the herbal combinations to a boil in a covered pot, and simmered for about an hour and a half. I made enough to last about three or four days. The herbal solution is to be stored in the refrigerator to prevent spoilage. I also used "Queen of the Meadow" and "Damiana" too.
Herbs are quite slow in healing, and I think that it's best to change to a healthy diet at the same time. (Also avoid alcohol, and processed sugary refined foods etc.) It's best to do some research on it, consult your doctor, and take notes to determine whether or not the herbal treatment is good for you.
With herbs, sometimes the conditions will get slightly worse at first, then start improving over weeks at a time. Herbal therapy can be quite a science and difficult to understand, but they saved me from extreme pain and discomfort at one point in my life.

You could try drinking cranberry juice. And are you drinking plenty of water?

hello
I have had terrible problems with urinary tract and cystitis infections and found that making a tea from dandelion roots really helped. I had tried every kind of medicine imaginable and eventually became immune to antibiotics. (stress used to bring these infections on)
Goodluck!!!!

SallyH,
I just remembered another thing to tell you when preparing the herbal tea. Don't forget to put in a little licorice root (about a tablespoon or so in size) with your herbs, if you would like. It will make the herbal tea taste better, plus licorice is supposed to be a good herb too. Try to get herbs that are fresh (no more than one year old) and I have heard that the whole roots and whole leaves etc. are better than the herbs that are ground up into powder.
The others had some very good comments too. It takes sometimes a little experimentation to find out what's best for your condition. That's why it's important to take notes to notice the differences, between how you feel with one herb from the next etc.
