Hi All
I have been dizzy with visual disortion and imbalance 24/7 since July 2002 (coming up for 18 months now auggghhh)
I have seen every medical specialist possible and havent had any diagnosis or assistance whatsoever. I am desperate. My life is barely liveable and is getting harder and harder.
Has anyone heard of anything like this which can be helped by natural remedies Please Help..

Since your not finding help from your doctors, then try a Chiropractor or a massage therapist (deep tissue) .

HI - new to this board,,,,,may I suggest Blood Sugar balance?
I can give you the name of manufacturer.
What supplements do you take?
I know I got dizzy taking Hawthorn when I had just drank some coffee!
Some things just don't mix....

Acupunture and massage therapy (specifically myofacial & trigger point therapy) have helped me a lot for diziness due to an inner ear problem.

If your neck is misaligned it can cause the syptoms you describe. I would see a good chiropractor. Also, the stomach is often connected to dizzyness. I find that chewing on 2 tums will clear up my vertigo within minutes.

I think it sounds like innner ear problems caused by chronic sinusitis.
It may be worth while to irrigate your nose with a Nystatine & Grapefruit seed extract solution. 96% of chronic sinus problems are caused by a fungal growth--- 40 different strains-- according to research done at Mayo Clinic in 1999.
It works for me---Harry

Thankyou all for your suggestions it is very very much appreciated - I am desperate to find something which at least relieves my dizziness and imbalance a bit.
A few questions
peregrine - when you say stomach how is it related, I had bad nausea just before I got the dizzies and get nausea from time to time. What do mean by 2 tums - what is that?
Harry - I have had MRI which showed no sinus problems or so they said. What do you think - is it worth trying anyway? I have tried nasal irrigation with various solutions but had no notable success so far.
Naturalhealth - in answer to your question. Before the big dizzies came (and never left) I had a rather severe case of bronchitis about 2 weeks prior. A couple of days before the dizzies stuck I was having severe nausea with motion sensitivity and weird visual disturbance attacks. Then the dizzies hit and the visual disturbance and dizzies came and stayed. What is Craniosacral therapy? I have never heard of that before.
Jayne - blood sugar balance: I have had my blood sugar checked and supposedly it is normal. What do you suggest??
Elizabeth2nd - I have seen 2 natrapaths in Perth but both havent really done much to help me I think it is all about finding the right person which seems to be the hard part. I have been recommended someone else to try which I am going to in January.
Mdla - I have recently started physiotherapy as I have been told that my right neck muscles are crazy tense, but no change so far - what is different between myofacial therapy and physiotherapy?
To everyone - has anyone tried hypnotherapy - could it worth for something like this. Convince my brain it is not dizzy! What do you think.
Thanks again to everyone for their input.

star,
Your sinuses, inner ear, vision muscles are {I think} very closely related. I have had sinus problems, dizzy problems as well as vision problems off and on for several years.
Believe me many tests were conducted with no real results. I suggested to an Alternative Practicing MD here and he suggested that I use a nasal spray that is made up in his laboratory -- the active ingredients is Nystatine and a very small amount of Grapefruit seed extract and it helps alot along with another MD that gave me 10 days of Diflucan 100mg tablets.
This helped me so I'm more functional.
The problem with fungal infections --- NO one suspects or even tries to diagnose you with a the problem except the standard Medical tests.,At least that is how it works here???
I really think it's worth tring.

Tums are antiacid tabs that you can easily carry in your purse and pop in your mouth if you start to get dizzy. You can buy them at any drug store or supermarket.

Could you have virtigo? I have it right now and have had it for nearly 3 weeks now. It can last for yearss and can go as quickly as it came. I am sure you know what vertigo is, and maybe you know you don't have it, but just a thought.

I did a google search on inner ear crystals, because I read on a message board about a problem with some tiny crystals in the inner ear getting out of position. Possibly, you should do the same, because this condition can cause vertigo. I found an exercise you can do yourself to see if it will help. You might want to look for a doctor who will be willing to test you for this problem. I hope this helps.
Another medical treatment for this condition involves the patient in a series of physical therapy maneuvers to alleviate dizziness. This is termed the Brandt -Daroff excercises. This involves a specific series of movements that the patient performs alone or with the doctor or physical therapist. The specific set of maneuvers is listed below:
1. From a sitting position, turn your head 45 degrees to the opposite side, then lay on the affected ear DOWN. Stare at an object about 8 feet away and wait for the dizziness to resolve and stay there for about 1 minute.
2. When the dizziness resolves, sit up and stare at the same object until the dizziness is over.
3. Then perform this in the opposite direction.
4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 three times.

I went to a nurse practicioner(sp?) because I was dizzy, and she thought I had inner ear problems and gave me an antibiotic, some Hystex, for congestion, and some anivert for the dizziness. I took all the meds and was still dizzy, so she sent me to an allergy specialist. He says I have an overgrowth of yeast in my body that is causing me fits! He has me on meds and a special diet. I go back to see him this week for a balance test. Do a search on candida albicans and see if any of that rings a bell.

I had these symptoms for three years and i saw an E.N.T. specialist who thought it may be a middle ear infection and it would clear up on its own. But it got so bad i couldnt drive i couldnt walk straight and i felt very sick when i had an attack. Certain things triggered it off like strong perfume or extremes in temperature. Changing my contraceptive pill seemed to do the trick in the end. Good luck.

Since I had the balance test, the ENT says I have mineire's disease. THis has nothing to do with the yeast overgrowth. I am taking a water pill each morning along with betahistine, that I can only get at a certain drug store, because it's not FDA approved.
I just went back to him this week, and he says I'm better - which I could tell. Now, I only get dizzy occasionally or if I get up to quick. Hope this helps :)

Sounds like Vertigo to me. Can be brought on from many different factors, allergies, sinuse problems, inner ear trouble etc....I had Vertigo for a VERY long time which was a result of Chronic Stress. How's the stres level in your life?

oh my gosh! I have allergy problems, pressure in the left ear, pressure in the sinuses and sinus drainage down the throat. All that can cause lightheadedness?

I have been dizzy and off balance for 2 years. I went to vestibular therapy and it has helped so much. You have to retrain your brain and these exercises help so much.
