There's a small array of different whitening strips/gels/goops, etc... and I'm curious to know what has worked for all of you!

Such as.....

1) Crest Whitening Strips
2) Rembrant Whitening Wand
3) Crest Night Effects
4) Colgate's Simply White
5) Any whitening toothpastes

I don't know if I got all of them... but have any of you had any results with these? Thanks for any replies!

I used Crest Whitestrips last summer and they worked great!

some people warned me about my teeth becoming sensitive, but i didn't experience that at all.

hope that helps :)

Crest Whitening Strips by far have helped me as well as my friends... It's not too bad, and does the job great! Costs about $40.00... but I'm sure you can find it for somewhere in the $30's at whatever drug store. :)

I have used them all and none of them worked for me. I even tried Georges. I don't have any special things on my teeth and the stains are just off white-yellow...so they should work but they don't.

Thanks for the replies! Have any of you tried both professional whitening and the whiteners you can buy, and if so how do they compare? I'm thinking of trying the Crest White Strips and money isn't an issue, but I don't want to buy something that doesn't work, obviously! I'm just curious to see what has worked for other people.

i just started using crest whitestrips a few days ago, and i noticed a difference in about 3 aplications. only thing is, if you drool alot (like me), you have to adjust them frequently, but hey if my teeth are getting whiter i don't mind :)

and my teeth are not sensitive, i use them twice a day with no problem.

they're around $27, but i have noticed a lot of magazines have $7 off coupons inside them. can't say i remember which ones tho ^_^;;

oh, and by the way i *LOVE* diet cola, i drink like 3 cans a day, and my teeth are *still* getting whiter.

and you can talk to people with the strips on, you just lisp a little.

i have been into tooth-whitening since i was about 9...this is the only thing that has really worked for me. and it's cheap!

I have not tried the Crest strips but when I was at the dentist I asked about professional whitening and they told me I would be better off using the whitestrips and saving my $$. They said they work great for those who already have fairly white teeth and that the professional whitening in my case would render the same results as whitestrips. I have been using the Arm and Hammer whitening that says it gets your teeth 2 shades whiter. I am only halfway through the tube, I dont know if my teeth are that much whiter but they do have a nice glowing shiny appearance.

Ever since I got my braces off 5 years ago, my teeth have seemed yellowed. I hate it! I've tried several whitening toothpastes and some other whitening stuff, and it hasn't worked for me! So Crest White Strips seem to be the general concensus here- have they not worked for anyone besides Abbey?

I think I am going to try the aura ear drops (I think that was the name) that another thread on here was talking about... I already have super sensitive teeth, I have considered using the crest stripes, but I have no idea how they will react with the sensitivity my teeth are already pagued with...any ideas?

:D I've tried both professional whitening kits (bleaching kit from the dentist's office where they custom make trays to fit your upper & lower teeth with the bleaching gel used for two weeks), and I've also tried some of the over the counter brush on gels.

I've found that the bleaching kit from the dentist's office made a noticeable difference in the white shade of my teeth...I originally got it about three years ago.

Since then, this year, I've tried the Colgate brush on gel (I forgot the exact name), and also the Crest Whitestrips. They don't seem to have gotten my teeth any whiter than the professional kit...but I'm sure they are removing some surface stains.

It's worth it trying the over the counter stuff though before you consider professional bleaching. I'm sure the cost varies from dentist to dentist, but for the custom bleaching trays (upper & lower) and syringes of gel, I think I paid something like $400.00-$500.00 at the dentist office.

I've never had the professional laser whitening done, but I've heard it costs even more.

My teeth are stained from using iron medication as a child. So they are not yellow but sort of light gray. Weird and I hate them! I have tried countless over the counter whiteners, and also paid $600.00 to have laser whitening done and nothing has worked. My last resort is porcelain veneers which cost about $1000 per tooth! Yikes! I guess I'm doomed to have a "gray" smile forever......

Really?? Have you tried this Auro Ear Drop thing that everyone is raving about? And also have you tried the professional dentist gel/tray thing? My brother and sister both tried the professional whitening, and they both have gorgeous white teeth... I just want to try something alternative beforehand. I'm using Crest White Strips, but I've only been using them for 2 days now... I'm seeing an improvement though. I hope you can find something that works... veneers.... that's a lot of money!

Haven't tried the ear drops yet...kind of weird though! Yes, I have tried the dental whitening with the trays and the laser whitening. I don't know what else to do. I sure can't afford veneers!

i have tried colgate simply white, but it doesn't work at all. i also tried the rembrandt kit and it was more hassle than it was worth. the trays gouged & poked my gums so bad i couldn't eat for days. i only saw maybe a half of a shade whiter with that.
everyone seems to like the white strips so maybe i will try that next!

Hey there,
I use Colgates Simply white which I apply at night, and I have found it to be better than Crest Whitening Strips which were very annoying to wear for 40 minutes a day and my teeth became sensitive. The only problem with Colgates Simply white is that its yucky in your mouth for about 5 minutes....but thats a far cry from 40 minutes.

I used the crest white strips and they worked pretty well, but it was pretty annoying to wear them every day. Have you tried both Crest Night Effects and Colgate Simply white? I hear that the Crest brush-on gel works better somehow. I think I'm going to use one of them for touch-ups.

I know the ear drops idea sounds weird, but isn't carbomide peroxide the same thing whether you label it ear drops or teeth whitening gel? I looked at the ingredients listed on both items and other than the strength of the peroxide, they are about the same. Some of the ear drops do vary in ingredients, I just made sure I purchased one that had the 6.5% carbomide peroxide in a glycerin base, not an alcohol base. I did have to get over the thought that I was putting "ear drops" in my mouth! But I've gotten better whitening results from this method than the $400 I spent for the molds and gel at my dentists office. I do still use the trays from the dentists just because I have them anyway, but I've heard any tray would work, not just the custom made ones. Or you can do it without a tray at all (I found this to be too difficult). I'm happy with the results, experienced no sensitivity like I did with the dentists gel, and I'm only out $5. :p Oh an one interesting thing, the drops I'm using are called Debrox and they contain citrus flavoring. Go figure.

Well I try colgate simply white my teeth did not seem any whiter. Cheap way is have you try puting baking soda on your teeth for whiter teeth. I would like to go to denist and get my teeth whiter but cost to much. I just put some baking soda on my teeth or use a whiting toothpaste.

Baking soda just makes me gag... I can't do it!! And I use lots of whitening toothpastes, even ones with baking soda in it, but they don't seem to do much.

Hi, I know what you mean! I felt weird about it also. But after reading all the post, there are over 90 now, and none are negative, I thought I had to give it a try. I have not been able to find the Auro Ear drops, just the Auro Ear Dry, which is NOT what you want. I found the Debrox at Wal-Mart. I've also seen it at Target. It doesn't taste bad at all. If you can get over the "ear drop" thing (trust me, this was a leap for me!) you may be pleasantly surprized! Let me know!

Opps! As for how you apply them. People have approached this different ways. Koot, who started the original thread, applies them directly to her teeth, without trays, and holds them there for several minutes, then spits them out. I tried this, but found it to be too difficult. I have trays that I had made at the dentists office for their whitening kit, and put the drops in them. I keep them in anywhere from 15 min. to an hour. Actually, I accidently washed and dried my trays today in the washer and dryer (someone came to the door yesterday and I quickly put them in the pocket of my jeans, which I washed this morning) and they are now just two balls of plastic. So now I will try what several others have tried and that is to buy the most inexpensive whitening kit that contains trays and use them with the ear drops. Also, this tip was given to Koot by her dental assistant after she asked her how she got such beautifully white teeth. :) Once I began to see the results (after about a week of daily use) I got over the "ear drop" thing. But I have to admit, I have not told any of my friends about this, they would think I'm crazy. :D

As you may know from my previous post, I have tetracycline stained teeth. I have had in-office whitening(Zoom), take home whiteners from the dentist and several over the counter whiteners. Nothing has worked so far. I asked my dentist about this and the only thing he could recommend was veneers, which are very expensive. So he told me to order Crest white strips premium and use it for a month or so and I should see some difference in the color of my teeth. These white strips are not available in stores but you can buy them from some dentist offices or online. I'm gonna give them a try and see what happens. The premium brand has 22% carbamide peroxide. So it is definitely stronger than the original ones.

Gavman- Thanks for helpin me out! Sorry about your trays, that's a bummer, but if I had a dollar for every lipgloss or chapstick I've washed.. sheesh. Anyways, where would I find the Auro eardrops or the other brand you mentioned? ... Debrox?

Sha- good luck with the premium whitestrips! I really hope they work for you. I might give them a go as well, because I used the normal whitestrips and they worked pretty well.

I live in California and have found the Debrox brand pretty much everywhere I've looked for ear drops. Target, Wal-Mart, Rite Aide. The Auro brand I have not been able to find, only the Auro Ear Dry-Not the right thing. Your in Arizona so hopefully you have a Target or Wal-Mart near you! Good Luck.

Hi, I've just recently started the ear drops thing and have noticed that it is working. I've read that alot of you either don't use trays or do. What I have done is instead of buying an OTC whitening kit or going to the dentist for trays, I bought the athlete mouthguards from Walmart. The instructions are that you put them in boiling water for 12 seconds and then carefully put them on your teeth, then press them against your teeth all the way around so that it takes the shape of your teeth. They work great. Although, I just recently bought one from kmart. It was an adult one and coverd all my upper teeth but it did not work toowell when I tried to mold my teeth. I think it was just to thick. The ones I purchased before were smaller and more flimsy so they molded better. Just a suggestion to anyone who likes using trays.

Hey everyone... I have now tried the Crest Whitestrips Premium and I'm going to use them soon again because I went on a trip where I was doing tons of stuff and I didn't have time to floss and brush as much as I normally do to maintain my pearly whites. Has anyone tried Premium??? Ever since I used it I always get compliments on my smile. What about you, sha?

I work for a dentist so I have the advantage of professional whitening :bouncing: It is expensive but works great. If you smoke it does not work as well or if you have a gray cast to your teeth. If you just want to whiten a yellow cast go to your dentist for bleaching this is great! Some people do experience sensitive teeth after to cold. If you don't want to spend that much we also use the colgate whitening system. Hope this helps!

Two weeks ago I bought the 'Rembrandt 2 Hour White' kit. It was reasonably priced, and more importantly, it could be done in one day. I only noticed a small difference for my night out with the hubby that night, but I did feel a lot more confident as the color seemed brighter somehow. (maybe just by staring at it?) ;) With the kit, came a night time bleeching wand type of thing, and this has actually helped the most. I can tell a difference now bewteen the teeth I'm using it on, and the teeth I'm not. (which means I should probably be using it on more than just the teeth exposed in a smile!) :)

The advice in this thread is very useful! When I'm done with my second set from the '2 Hour White' kit, I will definately try the Crest White Strips! (though I'll stick with the rembrandt night wand!) :)

Hi all, Just want to say that I've been reading all these tooth whitening boards, and I was ready to buy the AURO stuff, then I read on a another board about some dental stuff called Gly Oxide. (http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?p=42517 ) It's made for the mouth. It's an oral hygiene product and has 10% carbamide peroxide and is made for teeth and mouth care. I bought some today (generic store brand) for about $7.50 today and tried it - I put some on a toothbrush and I didn't like the flavor too much (It wasn't bad but wasn't great either, but I wanted to add flavor) so I added some of those concentrated breath drops you can but at the drugstore. That made it much better! I could tell a difference after 1 brushing. It's sort of a thick and viscousy, clear color liquid. You can find it at your local drugstore by the toothpaste and dental hygiene supplies. You can use it with toothpaste or more concentrated, without. I'll even try to add some baking soda to it to thicken it up more when I buy some tooth trays. Maybe this will help to adhere it to my teeth... But I loved adding the flavored concentrated breath drops - pick your fave flavor, and enjoy. You can probably do that to the AURO as well as long as you don't dilute too much... Good luck everyone.

If anyone wants to read more info, here's what was on the official Gly-Oxide site:

1. Remedy specific dental problems
For temporary (problem) use, Gly-Oxide cleanses canker sores and minor wounds or gum inflammation resulting from minor dental procedures, dentures, orthodontic appliances, accidental injury or other irritations of the mouth and gums. Gly-Oxide can also be used to guard against the risk of infections in the mouth and gums.
2. Improve everyday oral hygiene
For everyday use, Gly-Oxide may be used routinely to improve oral hygiene as an aid to regular brushing or when regular brushing is inadequate or impossible such as total care geriatrics, etc. Gly-Oxide kills germs to reduce mouth odors and/or odors on dental appliances. Gly-Oxide penetrates between teeth and other areas of the mouth to flush out food particles ordinary brushing can miss. Plus, Gly-Oxide helps remove stains on dental appliances to improve appearance.
Gly-Oxide is specially formulated to release peroxide and oxygen bubbles in your mouth. The peroxide and oxygen-rich microfoam helps:
Gently remove unhealthy tissue, then cleanse and soothe canker sores and minor wounds and inflammations so natural healing can better occur.
Kill odor-forming germs.
Foam and flush out food particles ordinary brushing can miss.
Clean stains from orthodontics/dentures/bridgework, etc. better than brushing alone.

Hi! I just wanted to say that the Crest Whitestrips work just as well as the professional bleach whitening systems available at the dentist office. A few years ago, I tried Rembrandt and had no results. The Crest Whitestrips worked great and my dentist even commented on how white they were at my next visit after I started using them. I did experience some sensitivity to cold air or drinks, but it went away eventually.

About a year later, I worked at my dentist office as a dental assistant, and tried personally the professional whiteners available there. There was no difference, and as a matter of fact, the office where I worked endorsed the Crest brand, and we sold them to customers there in the office to those who didn't want to invest a larger amount of money. Once you achieve your desired shade, all you have to do is touch up a couple of times a month. If you notice a little stain starting to happen, one application will brighten them up again. Also, although your teeth may dull a little and need touch-ups, they will NEVER go back to their original shade! And, you don't have to worry about the bleaches ruining the enamel on your teeth, contrary to some beliefs. The bleaches (Crest and professional) are totally safe for your teeth.

A couple of other helpful hints I learned at the dentist office where I worked: 1) Don't brush your teeth with toothpaste directly prior to applying the whitestrips or whatever you're using; instead, brush with baking soda and water. This takes the "gunk" off the surface of your teeth, as well as acts as an exfoliant so to speak to deep clean the little pits and crevices that may be on the surface of your teeth. Toothpaste contains materials that clog these little pores in your teeth and block the bleach gel from coming in contact with and penetrating all surfaces of the teeth as well as they should. 2) Don't sleep overnight while wearing the bleach. Even though it claims to be non-effective after half an hour, it isn't! (One of their gimmics to get you to use more!) Wearing the strips or trays overnight may cause you to wake up with excrutiating tooth sensitivity, and may delay your usage of the product. (Best results are achieved with continuous use the first two weeks.) Trust me, I did this, and I paid for it. My mouth watered all day from the sensitivity, and I couldn't use my next scheduled set of strips. 3) Finally, this may sound crazy and a little dangerous, but if done with caution and care, will work without causing any harm. After making the overnight mistake, my dentist (and employer) told me to dip a Q-tip in some Clorox bleach and apply a layer on the surfaces that were sensitive. (Mostly the front teeth) Make sure the teeth are dry first, and keep you mouth open and lips and skin away from the wet clorox until it dries. No need to rinse, but you can if you want. This may sound strange to put bleach on your teeth that are sensitive because of bleaching! Actually, the bleach in tooth whiteners are not the same type of bleach as Clorox. And it's not harmful to your teeth. What it does is seals the pores on the suface of your teeth so the cold air or drinks can't penetrate into the sensitive part of the tooth. Dentists/Endodontists actually use the same bleach formula as Clorox, called chlorhexidine, to irrigate the canal during a root canal! It serves the same purpose to reduce irritation/sensitivity, as well as to clean/disifect the site. Just be careful when doing this not to get the bleach on your skin while it is wet. That's why a Q-tip is necessary. It may not take away the sensitivity completely, but will help tremendously! You may also want to use a sensitivity toothpaste such as Sensodyne or Crest while in the bleaching process to avoid sensitivity.

Crest Whitestrips are, in my opinion, the best over the counter bleach whiteners available. As for the whitening systems that use the light, I can't say I've ever tried this method, but the office where I worked didn't even mess with this system because in their experience, it didn't deliver as good of results. The white color turned out "fake" looking instead of a clean, pure, natural white achieved with the bleaches.

Hope this is helpful! Good Luck!

My little sister used to have almost brown teeth. They were disgusting! She started drinking lemon water. She ended up making it at home and just got hooked on the stuff. Anyway, about 2 weeks after using it, I noticed that her teeth were getting brighter. After a month, oh my gosh, they are white as can be now!!

So, if your after something cheap and natural, here ya go!! It just took a little while to work. Her teeth were also grose! It might work quicker on yellow teeth.

Hydrogen peroxide mixed with baking soda and toothpaste every day. The best by far.
