SO... now that I finally got my hair back to near it's natural color and have seen the roots of my hair, I realize why I always had highlights or dyed it in the first place! It's such a mousy brownish color... haha. Anyway, I'm going to be getting my hair highlighted tomorrow. I was going for the all over foils but then I was thinking if all over color would be better to achieve what I wanted... just a single process two times lighter color than my hair now... (http://digitalstar.com/portrgirl/?Album=08%2E++Boxcar+Social+Fun%21&Page=4&Image=240906) (only my roots are my natural color) I want something like Trista's hair in the pic at the top of this website (http://abc.go.com/primetime/bachelorette/index.html). Just a medium buttery blonde?? Maybe not even that light...
So... highlights or all over color?

Of course colour lifts colour.....it's the peroxide of 20, 30 or 40 volume, depends on the needs. For a two shade lift, that's absolutely no problem, colour or no colour!
Peroxide removes colour and redeposits the colour that's applied. Semi-permanent colour doesn't lift since it's 7 - 10 volume. It's not strong enough to get completely into the hairshaft to the pigment layer. It's a deposit process.
You can have a low volume bleach applied in foils to the colour you want and then a semi-permanent applied all over your hair to achieve the buttery colour you want. You can also have colour applied in foils in two or more golden shades to give you a multi-dimensional look.
Go for it, let us know how it turns out. I think it'll look great.
Best to you,
quincy

I'm actually well versed in the differences between types of coloring and peroxide. I know that I'm able to color and highlight over my hair; however, I was curious if anyone knew which process would work best to gain Trista's color and look: all over color or highlights Or if anyone happened to find out what Trista's actually does to get her hair to look that way.

I have mousy hair too but I get blond highlights. I would do the highlights not the all over color, it's easier to maintain IMO. I just love the highlighted look better too. Go for some blond ones and honey ones.
