I recently read an article by Dr Mercola that using hydrogen peroxide in both ears 3 or 4 times daily would abort colds and the Flu symptoms when first contacted.

Has anyone used this method? The Doctor says he has seen it used on hundreds of his patients. It really a cheap method if it works effectively.

Harry and beebop_71:
Could you provide more info on this?
Do you mean putting drops of hydrogen peroxide in the ears? How many drops?

I've had fluid in the ear, fullness, left ear stuffed up and Dr. prescribed (along with the typical decongestants) Cipro ear drops which have been a temporary fix - ear is aching a bit now, feels like it needs to pop and clear. I'd really like to try something natural.

By the way, I've been reading on the allergy boards here that people are using hydrogen peroxid in their nasal irrigation solution - they say it is anti-infective for sinus infections, etc. But I really wonder if it's safe to use for that - the only thing I've ever known hp to be used for is to apply to small wounds/cuts or used as a dental rinse.

Hey pw,

I use 8 to 10 drops in each ear and have not done it more than twice daily. It certainly is a cheap thing to try. And, if it does nothing else --it cleans out your ears.

I have read 3 books about the use of Oxygen therapies but I never thought of using it for colds or the flu.

The best book I have read is "Oxygen Healing Therapies" by Nathaniel Altman. The book discusses both Ozone and Hydrogen Peroxide in an easy to read text. It also has a pretty good Bibliography.

Hi Harry,
Did you start using it for a specific condition or just as a cleaner? I haven't decided whether or not to try it for ears and/or nasal.

After your post, I did the research on oxygen therapy - it's interesting and seems logical. But then I read that some (for instance, Dr. Weil) think that it's very dangerous to use hydrogen peroxide for anything but superficial cuts on the skin, so it's hard to know about many things, unless you try for yourself, but then you wonder if it's safe to even use at all.
