I have been doing some research about Gerd and I think I have it especially since I get heartburn easily. But about two weeks ago I stopped getting them. Now I get a pain in my chest and like there is something suck in my esphogues. The pain has been ongoing for about a week now and it goes away some and comes back. I'm also coughing here and there. Sometimes when I drink water it tastes funny. I also was lying down one time and started pushing down on my stomach and the pain in my chest increases. What do you think is going on? How serious is it? I don't have health insurance so is it a must I see a doctor?

Self diagnosis can be a dangerous thing to do. If you are having problems that aren't going away, you may need to see a doctor. I know it's hard when you don't have insurance. You may also seek the help of a nutritionist which may not be as costly but you also may not get properly diagnosed without having certain tests performed. From what I have read of other member's experiences, your symptoms sound very much like GERD. But without a proper diagnosis, you will just be guessing and could be risking your health. Take care and I hope that you are able to find dome relief.
