I have seen soooo many posts about the witdrawls symptoms of Zoloft. I have been on Zoloft for 2 years for my anxiety disorder/panic attacks and I feel great but now after reading all these posts I am not sure I want to get off of it. Do any other of the anxiety meds have this aweful reaction to withdrawl or is it just Zoloft and if this is such a widespread problem then is anything being done about it?? These people sound like they are withdrawing from Heroin or something. I just dont see how it could stay on the market with these symptoms. I would however like to say that I have done very well on Zoloft and am not looking forward to going off of it.

I have been taking Zoloft for about 4 years now and have no problems. I took Prozac for about 6 years and it was great for a long time. However it didn't work as well as time went on and I switched to Zoloft without any problems. I think everyone reacts differently to certain meds so don't let these posts discourage you. If it works then keep taking it and don't worry about what may happen later

My goodness, why would you want to go off of it when it has helped you so greatly? Please don't worry about withdrawals. Remember that heroine is an addicting drug and shouldn't be used at all. Whereas, Zoloft has helped so many people, like yourself. For me, the negatives on Zoloft has far outweighed the positives, so I would like to try to go z free and see how I do. The problem occurs with withdrawing from it because I have been on it for so long.

I think they are finding that many SSRIs have withdrawal symptoms..........the main thing is to see your DR and get on a taper schedule that is very slow as well as maybe ask for a Benzo to help you through it.
The problem is the short half life these meds have in our system.
I'm no expert, but know that Paxil has similiar withdrawal effects and the slower you taper the better,
It is a antidepressent...you may want to wean or stop and start a new one right away. Problaly best to get off of it and try something new.
