i personally do not care for that look as it can look terrible on some people. i did it myself and i saw pictures later in which i looked like a clown. i actually have a lot of experience in theater so it's not like i was starting from scratch when it came to make up and what not. if i were you, i would go to a professional place and have them sculpt your eyebrows according to your face. it takes a looooooonnnnggggg time for the eyebrow to grow back, so i would let a professional do it, don't be like me and look stupid.

i wouldnt shave your eyebrows, id wax them. too thin or none at all(pencil in) looks good on some people, and some people lookreally bad. i just read the other day, in a magazine that women should go thicker in their 20's and 30's and thinner in their 40's. i dont know if i quite agree! basically you just have to experiment, with your face. my eyebrows grow back VERY QUICK.

I second waxing. Shaving can leave awful stubble. If you are feeling chicken about it, then you could always do it gradually. Get your eyebrows waxed thinner than you usually have them. See how you like that and from there you can proceed to go thinner and thinner. The same can be done with tweezing of course. My eyebrows personally grow fast so i've been able to have them completely natural and thick to very thin. Both ways I love and all ways in between. It's just hair, so have fun with it and do whatever you want. :)

Thin drawn on eyebrows look horrible. That goes in the category with dark lip liner with lighter lipstick...both no nos. :nono:

I think a combination of tweezing and the string method is best, it lasts longer.

Oh my, please don't shave or wax them ALL off!! Just get them shaped really thin.

Don't shave 'em! They can grow back really funny and stubbly. Waxing is the way to go, and i wouldn't take all of the hair off if I was you, then your face won't look proportionate. Leave some hair as a guide to follow as your pencilling them.

Leave your poor eyebrows alone! If anything only pluck the stray hairs BELOW the eyebrow's NATURAL LINE (don't mess with the line itself) , but never ever touch the part above the eyebrow because that's the shape that best suits your face. And remember that repeatedly pulling out the hairs will damage the follicle until it just stops growing. And even if it does grow back the hair won't grow smooth and even like they are now, I garantee you that. If you want that pencil thin look you could brush them straight up and trim them with a cuticle scissors, then fill with a pencil or eyebrow make up. You will eventually tire of the look and they will survive only so much torture, just so you know.
Good luck!

I just had a better more brow-friendly idea. Just get that eyebrow tamer stuff that looks like clear mascara and brush them so they're thinner looking. It will look defined without doing anything major.
Also, waxing, shaving, and plucking are going to make them grow back funny or not at all. Trust me, I know!

Why would you want either pencil thin eyebrows or no eyebrows and then drawn on pencil eyebrows? Just my humble opinion, but I think that look appears fake looking, and it actually takes away from your face and eyes. Your eyebrows should provide a frame your eyes, and natural looking is the best way to go.

If your eyebrows are very thick, either pluck just the strays, or go to a hairdresser or professional salon and have them shaped and waxed. After that, you should be able to maintain them by just plucking the few stray hairs that grow out of place.

Whatever you do, never, ever shave off your eyebrows!

... never ever touch the part above the eyebrow because that's the shape that best suits your face...

I must disagree with this statement; the rule about never plucking above the eyebrow is simply not true. It really depends on what kind of brow and face shape you're working with. Nothing about my natural brow shape, for example, suits my face. My natural brows have no arch and droop down at the edges, which make me look tired, and not very attractive. I NEED to pluck above in certain spots to create the best arch I can. As far as why anyone would want to have the super thin drawn on eyebrows, I have two words for you: Marlene Dietrich.

Granted, she was from another time, but she was beautiful. I myself went through a period of very thin arched brows and when I look back at pictures of myself, I have never regretted doing it. It's just one of the many less natural, more contrived looks that people can adopt, and it's certainly not permanent. (For most people, but supposedly 40's movie star Lana Turner had to wear paste on eyebrows because hers never grew back after a particularly thorough plucking. Just a warning).

My advice is to gradually thin out your eyebrows with plucking, over a few weeks, to see how you like it. If you are liking what you see, continue, if not, fill them in with pencil and powder. And have some fun with it...

Well, there are exceptions to every rule and then there are people who aren't afraid to break the rule. So, really just think before you do something that could be permanent and what ever you do I hope you like your eyebrows in the end of all this. Good luck! :D
