I recently colored my hair dark brown with reddish highlights, but the highlights are too light and rather brassy (coppery-reddish) looking. Instead of looking like highlights, they more or less just blend in with the rest of my hair, so the top layer looks lighter than underneath (I'm not really sure if I'm describing this correctly, lol)
I want to darken the highlights, and I just bought Revlon High Dimension 10 minute haircolor in a dark brown shade (a true dark brown without any red). I figure this will tone down the red/copper color.
Will this work & give me the effect I want? (by the way, my natural hair color is very dark brown)

it will completely cover your hilights....if that's what you want. If you don't want ANY red in your hair, you can use a dark ash brown or a dark cool brown. Ash counters the coppery red colour.
Let us know how it works for you.

Have you tried a toner? (it's purple which will tone down the orange color) You can buy it in a cream, or use a shampoo that you can get at a beauty supply store.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I did decide to use the Revlon 10 minute haircolor in a dark brown shade to cover the highlights. Well, it didn't work that great...still have the highlights, but now they are more of an "ashy" color...it looks okay, but not great.
I think that next time, I'll just use a very dark brown shade...the Revlon 10 minute color doesn't seem to last very long.
