View Full Version : Tonsillectomy during cold times (winter) - did you have it too?

Hello,

Three weeks ago I had to remove my tonsils.

Everything is fine, except one problem... About one week after I had the surgery, I got a cold. Ever since then, the cold is still there and it doesn't seem to go away at all. The thing is that it's winter and the air is very cold. My room temperature is normal though. I feel that if it was summer, things were much better.

When I breath, I feel the air very cold - passing through my throat. When I wake up in the morning, it's the worst! My nose is full of mucus because it is accumulated during the night. At night when I sleep the cold is even worst, especially *in* the throat. I feel that this is the worst period of all day, probably because the body has no major activity to keep itself warmer. I do not know exactly what happens though, but the night period is the worst. When I go to bed at night I wonder how I'll be in the morning.

My question is... have any of you who had a tonsillectomy in the past experienced anything like this? I am especially asking those of you who had the surgery during the winter. Will this go away soon?

The surgery went very good, though the place where the tonsils were located hasn't fully healed yet. But it's very close to this.

Thank you very much,

Lucian

Just got my tonsils out on Monday, so I can't really say if I have had what you have. However, I don't have a mucuous problem in my nose. Just some built up mucuous in my throat that I haven't coughed up yet for fear of bleeding. Today I have the lovely ear ache. Talk about pain. I took 10 ml's of vicodin this morning and have been sleeping all day. This is the first time I've been out of bed.
