Hi,

I just had my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday, and I was wondering how long it takes for the mouth to fully heal?

As I understand it, when the teeth are pulled, you basically now have some open blood vessels in your mouth, which to me seems like an HIV case waiting to happen if you have unprotected oral intercourse.

I know you're supposed to wear a condom when having oral sex, but the reality is that most of us don't, and so I want to make sure I wait long enough for my mouth to heal before doin it again.

the risk of infection by oral sex is low, but i would make an exception in your case. it is good that you are aware of your increased exposure risk. i would say that at least two weeks, but didn't the dentist say something about the time it would take to heal? i would just refrain from oral sex untill you are sure that it is healed. you don't want to be wondering if you were exposed at some point because of this.
