I have a quick question about acidophilus. I've been taking it for about 6 months now,the renue life brand called floramore. This needs to be kept in the fridge. I noticed many different brands and prices, and many that don't need to be kept in the fridge. whats the difference? I need to get more and wonder if I can order online, I see 100 caps for 7.00 other brands much higher.
thanks

I've heard that these friendly bacteria products are a waste of time as the bacteria is actually killed before it reaches your stomach and therefore can do no good, anyone else heard this?

no i have not heard of that. i don't think that they could sell it if all the good bacteria died off, would kinda be false advertising. i think that primal defense is the best as it contains many different types of flora. i don't think that all the little buggers make it, but i know how much it has helped me.

still wondering if anyone knows why some need to be kept in fridge and others do not?

Betty,
There are several probiotic supplement that claim they don't need refrigeration. They are PB-8, Kyodophilus and Primal Defense.

Heat does destroy alot of the live cultures of many brands but some survive both shipping & handling and manage to do some good and some brands like Primadophilus is enteric coated to survive stomach acids.

I use PB-8 and Primal Defense and both work well. PB-8 should be taken on an empty stomach since some will be destroyed by stomach acids. Primal Defense claims that it is not affected by acids. A very good one also is Primadophilus-Reuteri but it does need the cold prior to taking it.

I buy Both online at good discounts.

Another good way to get good bacteria in your intestines is by eating a good brand of yogurt like Stonyfield Farm. It contains 6 live active cultures and you know it has been kept cold during shipping. I buy it at a health food store. There are other good brands but read the labels to make sure they contain more than just the 2 cultures that are needed to make all yogurt. Stonyfield contains 4 additional cultures one is L. reuteri and it's the only yogurt in the USA that has it. It is derived from mother's milk and is patented and cultured in Sweden.

I wish you well---Harry

Harry to the rescue
thank you again for your help, I was baffeled as to what to buy, the local health food store here told me they have to be kept and bought cold. they charge $20.00 for the renulife brand. when I looked online their are SO MANY and prices range from$4- $20. I couldn't understand how they could be any good if they were not kept cold.
I will go to google and look for the ones you mentioned.
happy,healthy holidays Harry :D

P.S. I got the garlic you told me about and started it saturday, trying to get hubby to take it,he's 49 and I think it's inportant.
