HI..to my understanding mono is a virus that effects the body that last up to a month that is transmitted by saliva... Symptoms are generally low grade fever , swollen lymph nodes, sore throat and an extreme tiredness.
Also In almost ever case the spleen is swollen.
Bed rest is the best way to over come mono....
To my knowledge once you have came in contact with mono it never leaves the system. It kinda runs its course then it lays dormant and if you allow yourself to get really run down its subject to unleash its symptoms all over again just not as rough as the 1st round.

Ah, Infectious Mononucleosis
I am the self ordained mono queen. I get it about once every two years and have it for about a month at a time.
Mono is CAUSED by a virus that IS called the Epstein-Barr virus.
It is as said before transmitted through the saliva... so your roomates or family and friends need not worry.. unless you have un-usually close contact with them... like slobering on a cup and then having them use it as well....
They say once you get mono you will develope a permanent protection against having it again...
I dont really buy that though as I have had it many many times!
most common symptoms as said above are fever, sore throat, swollen glands. Fatigue is a very big part. i know i sleep about 15 hours a day when im sick!I also get abdominal pain which is normal.
How does my physician know I have Mono?
They diagnose mono with a blood test. But if you get tested and it says no, you still may be harbouring the sickness.. but it can take over a week for it to show up on the test.
It is very unpredictable. It will depend on the severity of the disease that may vary with individuals. If you have fever, sore throat, fatigue, or other problems, it may be necessary for you to be in bed. With good care, you should be up and around in 1 - 2 weeks. Generally speaking, the healthier your lifestyle, the shorter the duration of the illness.
Lots of rest, and an a little somthing to decrease the fever and muscle aches are the usual methods of treating Mono. But serious cases can require antibiotic treatment. (ugh i HATE antibiotics)
So dont kiss anyone!!!
o and you arent supposed to drink alcohol either!
Thats in short all I know about mono!other then it is a complete pain in the butt!!
good luck!
