Ok, So I have been on Paxil for about 3 weeks [20mg]'s, although I started out at 10mg for about the first week. Anyway, the other night I drank a mickey of bacardi (375mls) and I was pretty loaded. In the morning I felt quite hungover, but the night I drank that bacardi I didn't take my paxil... anyway, I still have stomach pains on and off, and this is the 2nd day after I've drank. I have taken my paxil since then though... could it just be that I drank too much? I mean when I drink with paxil, I feel fine at the time.. until the next day or so...

ceedricc,
I used to take paxil and I know for a fact you are not supposed to drink while taking it. I can't say what your problem stems from as I am not a dr. However, I believe it says no drinking for a reason.
Best of luck to you. Hope you feel better soon.

I agree with dragon, most AD's say to avoid alcohol, you are mixing it with a med that is working on your brain chemistry. I don't think skippping a dose of your AD when drinking is a good idea. AD's are meant to be taken daily, that is how they work.

Sometimes when I drank heavily on Paxil (it's called Seroxat in England) I would feel increadibly anxious and derealised the following day.
This actually continued for some time after quitting Seroxat, and I have it somewhat now - months later.
However, I do wonder whether there was some coincidence with the timing that I started Seroxat and when my real problems came on from drug abuse.

many people have 1 or 2 drinks on paxil with no problems, bewst to experiment by having a drink at home first to see what happens
may be best to avoid drink when on paxil for the first few weeks

Ok, so... following strict medication advice, you shouldn't drink at all. Your body and specifically, your liver have enough to deal with.
If you insist on drinking, you should allow your body time to adapt to the new medication in your system and sorry, but 3 weeks is not enough. Give it at least 4-6 weeks and don't drink too much.
I was on a new med once, took xanax and went out drinking. All I had was beer... I ended up so sick that I didn't (ok, couldn't) move from the couch for 3 days. I probably should have gone to the hospital, but was too afraid/ashamed to do so.
It really is best not to drink while on medication... your liver and kidneys can only handle so much. I watched my grandfather take his last breath due to live cancer- it's not a pleasant way to go.
