I am going back to my counselor in January. He was teaching me some of the CBT's and meditation techniques. He seems to be knowledgable, but I feel like he is not very well known in this area. Either that or he doesn't get many patients like me. Anyways, I have really poor consitration skills. I think I try so hard that I focus more on consintrating than on actually meditating or CBT. Is there a easy way of doing this. I still don't know much about CBT's but, I liked to hear some experience's from people who have actually done it. Or someone has some great info on it. I partialy have some learning disabilities so this does make this hard for me. I would really want to get this down because, I don't want to start or be on meds for the rest of my life. Anyways I am welcome to any other stories or advise thanks....

It's more about changing your way of thinking than about meditation. Though meditation and relaxation help a lot with anxiety, CBT is more about identifying negative ways of thinking and substituting with more objective thoughts. Check the moodgym site to get a better idea.
I'm no longer on meds thanks to what I've learned through CBT. It's a lot of hard work to learn it, then you have to keep it up all the time but it's worth it.

learning CBT can be slow and difficult, see if the counsellor will let you tape record your sessions, also ask him to make a CBT/relaxation tape for you
concentration improves with experience
meditation helps some but not all, CBT helps everyone
