View Full Version : Are the new lights at my gym blinding me?

I got kind of a problem. I work out at gold’s gym just up the street, and they remodeled the ceiling. The problem is the lights hang lower now, so when im doing my cardio for 45 mins, im almost staring at the light, and is in very good view of my peripheral vision. Also the reason im looking straight is because that’s where the TVs are, and I don’t want to just stair down at the timer for 45 mins, that would be killer. So my question, will this effect my eyes and cause damage down the road?

I really do not know but would think wearing sunglasses might help. Anytime you stare at "light" there is a chance for eye damage.

Have you mentioned this to your instructor? Many times things could be altered if the ones in charge knew about them. But too many people either think it only bothers them alone or that someone else had probably already mentioned it and the people in charge decided to do nothing about it. In either case, the instructors may not even know about it (since they are standing up in front, right?) and would possibly put up shades or move the monitors if they knew about it. If it bothers you, it may bother others, also...so don't feel 'selfish' by mentioning it to them. The worst that could happen is they say they knew about it and they can't fix it. If so, maybe you can find a time to go during the day before the lights turn on.

Of course, I doubt anything I'm saying here is anything you haven't already pondered. Just trying to be encouraging. :)

After taking time to reread your post, I'm realizing that they didn't lower the streetlights outside, but the entire ceiling. Bummer. Maybe they can install a light dimmer. I still stick with the advice of mentioning it to them. They may be able to...I dunno...lower the floor or do something with the lights. [sigh!] I never claimed to be an interior designer...or to know what I was talking about.

Stilll trying to be supportive here. :)
