Hi everybody!
I was wondering if anyone else gets really bad stomachaches with cramps and gas that eventually ends in a bowel movement that feels like everything just falls out. I call them gutbusters. What bothers me though is that I feel so yucky afterwards. I get queasy and empty feeling. I have ibs and have had it for 20 years now. The pain or cramps disappear after the bm, but I am left with a sick feeling, lots of gurgles and rumbles and eventually I start getting a full bloated feeling in my stomach and start belching, but they do not relieve anything. They tend to make the fullness worse. I have a had time eating after all these feelings manifest. I have to be able to eat and keep things in because I am very underweight and always have been because of this problem. Does anyone else get these gutwrenching stomachaches and how long do you feel bad from them? I've always read with ibs that you are supposed to feel better after going to the bathroom. Please help.

I just had one of those. I have been constipated for a week from taking vicodin (just had a tonsillectomy). I took 2 tblspn of milk of magnesia to unconstipate myself, and 2 hours later, I went into the bathroom and was in there for 20 min with the worst cramping and diarehea ever. It beat my food poisoning diarehea that I had weeks ago and my stomach pains were so bad that I had to lean over with my arms around my stomach and close my eyes. I started breathing really heavily to calm myself down. It was horrific, and even afterwards I still had excrutiating stomach pains. I had to take a tspn of vicodin (thus probably constipating me again) and lay down for the last 2 hours. I feel your pain trust me!

I have this same problem sometimes. I will be in such excruciating pain and sometimes it lasts quite a while. Eventually I pass what needs to be passed and I am ok. Fortunately for me I don't continue to feel bad afterwards. Maybe you should get it checked out.
Also, this used to happen to me more often when I had anxiety issues, are you under a great deal of stress, are you an overly anxious person? Maybe that can cause more problems.

Yes, I have panic attacks and get very nervous and anxious over illness and going away. If my kids tell me their stomach hurts, I immediately have to go to the bathroom. Some kind of mom I am, huh? I take xanax on a regular basis as it calms my digestive tract and my mind. Thanks for your replies.

Well, Luvmyboys, I am sure this is GREATLY affected by your anxiety. Have you tried gettin on Paxil? I have been on Paxil for about 5 months and I absolutely swear by it. Sure, you have to get past some of the side effects first, but it is worth it as they usually diminish with time. My problems in the stomach department have nearly dissapeared since the Paxil began taking effect. Every once in a while I have trouble, but so does everyone else...

I have tried numerous antidepressants. Amitriptylene, effexor, imipramine, paxil, celexa, remeron, prozac. None of them agreed with me. Either heart palps or headaches keeping me in bed or severe nausea that would also cause severe diahrrea and land me in the hospital. I am very underweight and don't have any reserve for severe side effects. The remeron is what started my panic attacks. Caused severe jitters to the point where they told me to go off cold turkey. The people at the makers of remeron say it is okay to do that with this drug. Got really sick and hyperventilated for months just out of the blue. Was hospitalized for one week for such severe withdrawal. I really thought I was going to die. It scared me tremendously. Xanax had to be taken to get through that. I still to this day have a hard time sitting still sometimes, but it is lessening over time. This withdrawal episode was 2 years ago. They think the remeron damaged my nervous system. I think it's just a bad drug for me. It actually caused anxiety. Other antidepressants do the same thing. So, I take the xanax. Thanks for you suggestion though.
