I want to start taking Glucosamine, however, i`m a bit confused. Does anyone know the difference between Glucosamine Sulfate vs. Glucosamine Hydrochloride??? Is one better then the other? Thanks !

Hi Dreamer54,

I learned that it is the size of the molecule that makes the difference. It has something to do with the "receptor" size - one is more easily absorbed than the other. It has been a long time since I learned this, so my memory is pretty faded on the specifics. But, it really has nothing to do with the glucosamine itself, just that one may be more readily bio-available than the other. Best bet - try one (and I THINK it's the hydrochloride that is supposed to work best) for 6 weeks, if you notice no difference in how you're feeling, then try the other for 6 weeks, and see if it helps more. If you DON'T notice any difference between the two, chances are the glucosamine itself isn't going to help whatever it is you want to take the glucosamine for, in the first place.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Thanks for the reply Copper. I`ll give the Glucosamine Hydrochloride a try like you said. I do appreciate you responding and telling me what you know.
