I had unprotected, vaginal sex about around Thanksgiving. Would my chances of contracting AIDS or any other STD be higher if I came inside of her? Also, how long does the acute phase last? I had swollen glands for a few days but I think I just had a cold.

If it matters I was on top and wasn't in her very long.

to my best of knowledge, unprotected vaginal sexual intercourse places you at some risk for stds and hiv... espcially if you don't know about the girl's status. From what i gather, the risk of getting hiv from unprotected vaginal sexual intercourse is 0.012% with a girl of unknown status, but people can still get it at a one time exposure. regarding you being at the top, it reduces your risk, because you are at the top... but that is only to the best of my knowledge.... I am no doctor, or any medical professional.. i just did my research on HIV only. the best way to find out, is to get tested at 3 mths later, or... if you can't wait... meanwhile you can find out from the girl her std/hiv status.. or whether she is sexually active?
acute symptons you have to ask other people here... i myself am not sure. sorry.
Just pooling in what i know.. hope it helps.
Anyway.. Merry Christmas

Since you had unprotected sex you are at some what of a risk. If I was her, I would be worried about YOU since she let you even go inside her. Why do chicks do that with guys they hardly know?

Female to male transmission is harder and less common but it does happen. The only way to know for sure is to get tested at around the 60 day mark minimum. 90 days is the most accurate.

Use a condom next time!

The fact that you ejaculated inside her only puts her at more risk of catching bacterial or blood transmitted diseases from you....it has no impact on the likelihood of you catching something from her....nor does the sexual position you utilized. I have read that female to male HIV transmission is rather low, unless you have a cut or sore on your genitals. However, you are at a very real risk of contracting any of the other STD's out there....herpes, hpv (warts) and molluscum contagium are transmitted through skin contact, and there needs to be no exchange of fluids or even penetration for these to be transmitted. The other bacterial STD's, such as clamydia, gonorrhea, trich, etc., would be transmitted via female vaginal fluids and male ejaculate and pre-ejaculate.

If this girl was just a hookup, and not an actual girlfriend, I would suggest you go get tested for everything, as if she let you ejaculate inside of her, and not use a condom, chances are she is practicing this type of sexual behavior with god knows how many other men. 1 in 4 people have genital herpes (but only 20% know they have it because only 20% get actual symptoms), 80% of the population age 14 and over has oral herpes, and if you have had more than 3 sexual partners, there is like an 80% chance you are carrying at least one strain of HPV. Putting these numbers together with the fact this girl (if she was in fact just a hookup) practices unsafe sex, I would definately go get tested.

Routine STD testing is just a good idea for health maintenance once anyone becomes sexually active. People should be tested yearly, if active, just like you go get check ups and PAP's, etc., since many STD's can be present for years before producing symtpoms. :)

Afterwards I asked her if she had any diseases and she of course said no. She said she never uses a condom (stupid I know) but I don't know how active she is.

Reading all the symptoms just makes me more paranoid. Especially as I had all the acute symptoms less than a week after having sex with her. I've also been more depressed lately and anxious about the future.

nickclone, we are in the same shoes, and tell you what no matter what we say will assure you, unless you take the test, that's one, OR, you free your mind yourself. This is not the best advice, but, you can tell yourself, that, the chances are lower for you to get HIV,because of the position, and maybe you just stop thinking and see whether the symptons will go away.. sometimes, you can use mindtrick on urself without becoming a jedi.

anyway, it will not be easy , get tested at 4 weeks first, just for assurance, then 8 weeks and finally 12 weeks. meanwhile just keep in contact with her and this healthboard to get some support or help..
