ello,
my names shannon and ive been suffering from A LOT of headahces for almost 6 yrs(im almost 18 now). I remember the day when i had my first migrain it was during class and it was horrible! i couldnt see my work out of my right eye so i couldnt write straight and i was very nauseous and felt like crap! My friend thought i was faking it to get out of doing my work. but anyways to my piont, I had a cat scan when i had the first migrian and it showed up normal. but every single morning i wake up and as i get dressed i start to get a little headache. I know that usually that just happens and goes away but it doesnt it will end up getting worse and worse until by the late afternoon i get a migraine an ill be crying my eyes out and screaming in pain which my mom hated but she always comferting:(. i use to eat a lot and some how it made the headaches and aches around my eyes stop but it wouldnt last it would come right back within a few min. and i didnt wanna turn out to have a eating disorder and gain a bunch of weight so that didnt work.

iv been to the doctors and the first one perscribed inderal and i was taking that for about 3 weeks and it didnt help. Then i went to a headache specialist at the begin of this yr anfd he perscribed propranolol. He first had it at 5mg(i think) and i took it for a few weeks until the my next apointment and it didnt help. so then he raised it to 20mg and it still hasnt helped!

this may sound strange... but to make the aches go away i take midol ...the specialist said that caffeine helps but it wont cure the headaches if i take it everyday and it makes headaches even worse so im geusing thats one of the reasons why i get so many headaches. plus im really scared for any liver damage it might have cuase. And that its giving me fatigue/apathy. I use to sleep in a lot too and the doc. said that that could be one of the reasons of the headaches so ive been waking up at 9-9:30ish every morning. When i had skool tho, i had to wake up at 530 in the moring to catch the bus but during the weekends i just had to sleep in, i was burnt out at the end of the week! But ofcousre even now ill wake up with headaches and if i dont take midol my headaches get worse and i dont have any energy to do anything, but think of the pain, if i dont. I take the nromal vitamins(B's,E's and C) ofcourse and ive been trying to eat more fruit but they dont have a lot here. I cant eat certain foods like chocolate or cheese.

sooo if anyones still reading, do you have an idea what this might be...? what might be some better meds...? and could schizophrenia or bipolar have some sorta cuase to it...? thank you very much for reading and posting any thougths!

Not sure if you are still around...but Inderal is supposed to take one or two months to work....I just started it tonight, but I can tell you most of the preventative meds are not supposed to work after a few days or even in a week or two. Plus, propranolol is the generic name for inderal...so its the same med. I am starting on 120mg, and many start on just 80mg. so if you were only on 20mg then you needed to give it more time and continue to increase until it works, or give up and try some other med. I haven't found much to work for me but I do know that there isn't any med out there to wipe away your headaches immediately. There really is no "cure" for headaches.........yet!
Hang in there, I am in the same boat, and I have been trying things for 5 or so years............some find help/relief right away, and others are still waiting for the right thing to come along. Good luck to you.
