Has anyone had any experience with Chinese Herbs?
I mean the kind purchased in a China Town from a Chinese person, not the health food store variety.
I would like to hear your experience, good, bad, or indifferent.....thanks!

I took patent herbal capsules to keep both Qi and Blood moving. They worked very well and in the end I forgot to take them because they did such a great job. I was also having acupuncture treatment at the same time for back pain and sciatica, which involves and lot of Qi and Blood Stagnation.
However, if you buy them like that, yes they can be successful for minor ailments but I would always advise that you go and see a practitioner so that you can get exactly the right prescription for you, depending on whether you have a syndrome that is hot, cold, excess or deficient. If you have a syndrome that is hot and excess, you would probably be given some herbs that will make you sweat more or urinate more to let the heat out of the body.
Anyway, please go and see a qualified practitioner if you want to do this. Chinese herbal medicine is great and works very well, but you do need to go and consult someone who knows what they are doing.
Good luck.

I take chineese herbs for disolving gallstones and cleansing the liver. I found an herbalist on the internet. I call her. She sends me the stuff, and it helps a lot.

I once took a concoction of about 12 Chinese herbs, bundled up as a 'ginseng nutritive combination'
The idea was to serve as a fortifying tonic, like ginseng serves as an adaptogen. It was prescribed for me by a doc in Australia and it worked wonders at a very difficult time for me.
I bought the almost exact same ingredients packaged up from a company in California and it had very little benefit. Sometimes I think regulation will be a good thing, then I think ...
