My son recently had the flu, and then a bulging ear drum on top of that. He was in the hospital w/ IV fluids and antibiotics and then given an RX for augmentin. That stuff is HORRIBLE and he refuses to take it. My husband held him down last night and forced it much to my dismay! So I've tried "hiding" it in strawberry pudding, applesauce, and tried giving him something to drink. Nothing is working. I'm thinking I will call the doctor on Friday to see if there is something we can do about this. Any advice?
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Your pharmacy may actually carry a solution for this. They have a syrup that is just for making medicine taste better. You might also try taking a syringe and putting it into the inside of his cheek.. You dont have taste buds on the outside of your tongue or on your cheek. Putting it into the back of the mouth might also help. Good luck

Once he sees the white medicine in the syringe, he screams and runs. We had an all out battle over it, with my DH holding him down squeezing his cheeks and Isaiah just spit it out TWICE all over me. I tried the side of the cheek method b/c it worked really well when he was little and couldn't move and didn't know how to spit effectively. I just called the pharmacy and they don't have the syrup to put in it. So I called the Dr. and they are calling in an Rx for amoxicillin which he loves. Thanks for the advice, though!

Mixed in chocolate syrup (the kind for chocolate milk) you cannot taste a thing!

OH MY GOSH!! I would have NEVER thought of that! I mixed it with egg nog last night and he drank a little. I am going to make it with chocolate syrup. How much do I mix? Can I mix it with milk, too? He LOVES chocolate milk! Actually, I'll have to wait until the next time, he's on amox. right now. This is the best news I've heard all day!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

You can mix it with as much syrup or milk or most any thing as long as you make sure you have the correct dose of medicine in the syrup or whatever you are using. Also you have to make sure he drinks or takes the full amount you mix it with or he won't get the full dose of medicine.
Good Luck. Hope he is better soon.
