I am 24 years old. I am about 30 pounds overweight. Starting in May 2003, I would have a feeling of shortness of breath, but I could breathe fine. (It felt like I was not getting all of the oxygen that I should). I went to the doctor, and she said it was probably stress. Around July 2003 I would get a pinching feeling in my heart area maybe once a week, sometimes less, sometimes more. The feeling would last just a couple of seconds. I still get these feelings, and sometimes I will get an achy feeling on my left side, right below my armpit area. This ache would last for a few hours, taking a Tylenol or Advil would make the ache go away. I have been just waiting for these feelings to go away, but they haven't. I am going to make a doctor's appointment next week, because I have been worried, and find myself thinking about it all of the time, and scaring myself. Has anyone had symptons similar to this? What could it be? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

I get these pains in my heart and I have had them for 25 years. I have been to a cardiologist twice for a complete checkup. They can find nothing wrong. I do have a problem with stress and they contribute it to that. I think any kind of pain around the heart will scare you and get your attention. The odds on there being something wrong with your heart are slim at your age. For your peace of mind go to a cardiologist and you will feel a whole lot better.
