Is there a beta blocker that can be taken during pregnancy? Has anyone had to take a BB or know someone who has?
I was trying to get off my medication but my symptoms started coming back so I had to increase it again. I am only 30 and I want to have a baby in the near future, but without this medication I will not be able to.
:(
Any feedback or advice would greatly be appreciated.

Hi Ladybug,

I was on beta blockers while I was pregnant. I was on, I believe, Lopressor during my pregnancy. I think this is the only one approved safe for pregnancies. If it's ok to ask, what is wrong with your heart? I had Graves' Disease and it was necessary for me to take them during my pregnancy. Immediately following my pregnancy, I had my thryoid removed.

Hi Z,
Wow finally someone out there that actually took a beta blocker while pregnant.Atleast I know there is some hope for me.Yes it's ok you can ask. I have cardiomyopathy. It is alot better while I am on medication thank God. But as soon as I try to wean myself down I get rapid heart rate (sinus tachycardia).I guess I will have accept that I will be on medication for the rest of my life.I just wanna know that I can have a baby in the near future with no problems. You had to take a beta blocker for your thyroid? Did you have rapid heart beat? I think part of my problem is thyroid related but my tests keep coming back normal. I have an appointment w/ an endo on the 28th. I will see what they say.
Take care
Thank you for giving me hope :)

Hi Ladybug,

Yes, I did have a rapid heartbeat. My resting rate was approximately 120 BPM without medication. I was dxed with Graves Disease after being misdxed for 7 years. Do you have any other symptoms besides a rapid heartbeat?

Z
