Hello everyone,

I have a question for all of you, if anyone can give me their opinion I would really appreciate it.
I've been on 20mg of Celexa for the past 6 months for
anxiety and depersonalization( lack of reality and scared).
I feel that the Celexa has helped me a little bit but I know
that I can do better than this.
My doctor has suggested that I try to go on Effexor 37.5 instead of the Celexa.
I hate to take medications and its even worse when
starting a new one ( fear of secondary effects)
Is there anyone here who has changed from Celexa to Effexor?
If yes can you please tell me your experiences. Did the effexor help you more than the Celexa, where the secondary effect worst or better? Did it kick in faster than the Celexa?
I'm aware that everyone is different and that what helps one might not help another, but I would still like to hear from you.

Thank you very much and I hope to get some replies back.

Take care,

Lady

celexa/cipramil helped me a lot but effexor didnt help me at all, however everyone reacts differently to antidepressant meds

the max dose of celexa is usually given as 60mg so upping your dose would seem like a good idea.

just because an antidepressant helps doesnt mean that all others also will.

I was on Effexor, then Celexa. The Effexor was great, but I started having really bad hives that they thought were caused by Effexor. My dr. at the time took me off Effexor without gradually reducing the dosage. It was the worst two weeks of my life. The Withdrawl effects of Effexor were so bad I thought i was going to die. Seriously. I have mind spitting headaches, (couldn't even go to work), I saw tracers everytime I turned my head, depression like you wouldn't believe, and worst of all were the emotional outbursts. Crazy bouts of ANGER. Screaming, throwing things, BREAKING THINGS-not like me at all. So, even thought the Effexor did work better than the Celexa (which worked pretty well) and WASNT causing the hives after all (We still dont know what is causing them - 8 months later and I still have them) I chose to stay off the Effexor, because I never want to go throught that again.
In fact, if this was closer to the time I got off of it, I would probably be even more detailed as to the HORROR it was. My husband would agree!!!!
