I will not deny it...
i have UNwANTED hair..
in my opinion in the worst place a woman can get unwanted hair..
thats right on the face
GASP!!
Ok ok so what I would like to ask...
is if anyone out there also has this what do you do to take care of this?
I mean im not exactly super-ficial etc.. BUT it is VERY annoing how people do that "ooo im not looking at your uh... mustache... i was just....uh, nothing!"
look all the time or when they try to look when you look away. ANYWAYS...
I tried the whole Nair thing and it leaves my upper lip dry.. irritated and VERY sore at the worst of times for days! So I was wondering what to do?
I was thinking about waxing but someone told me you never do that on your upper lip? Bah, its annoing, im not even an overly hairy person but apparently RIGHT there for the whole world to see I have an access...
huh?
hahah i also have this ONE stupid little hair that grows STRAIGHt out of my chin?? what the heck is up with that??? Thats no big problem but why would a THICK black hair.. and only one (THANK GOD) come out of me??
weird . ok anyways..
any input always appritiated!!
peace

I just bought a lighted magnifying mirror, mounted it on the wall. OMG, I have hairs I didn't know I had. With a daily look in the mirror and a trusty tweezer, I'll be able to easily keep them at bay. Personally, if I had more than a tweezer could handle, I think I'd just shave them and go on with my life.

AnnieLee.....i'd not get overly comfortable with the tweezers. After a while the fine dark hairs become much darker, stronger and courser hairs and some even become ingrown.
A lot of women have issues with facial hair growth at some stage in their life and there is no miracle cure for it. I had a few stray hairs which i used to tweeze and the problem escalated. I got rid of mine for ever with electrolysis.
I have heard from a few beauticians that bleaching the hair is bad also and can make the hair grown out stronger. Some people are having good results with laser and others arent having much success. It's really trial and error i guess and finding somebody who knows what they are doing.

Grrrr, I know what you mean. I have had it since I started Menapause and I started in my 30's. I tweezed, shaved and was so embarssed and never found a thing that worked. It even started growing on my chin, how gross! What I finally got was the finishing touch that you see on TV but Walmart or any drugstore sells them, works great. It doesn't come back like shaving does. It just removes the hair where needed. I tried it on my bikini area and it worked. I just love it! It doesn't leave that shaved look like a razor does and is not suppose to make the hair grow back any faster. It's 9.99 at the drugsore and I paid 14.99 plus shipping. I didn't know you could buy it in a drugstore. Well good luck and let know how it works if you buy one!

hello there i recently decided that i could no longer go with little dark hairs popping up in unwanted places....shaving was annoying and tweezing was too time consuming....i just wanted the hair to be gone for good!!! i am now 19 years old and just last fall (2003) i began electrolysis sessions. it isn't unreasonable in price when you consider all the money you will be saving by not having to buy hair removal products for the rest of your life! It has been great! It isn't really much more painful than tweezing in sensitive areas, plus the hairs are gone for good! no more ingrown hairs or stubbles!!! and i mean as you get older many women naturally grow more hair with hormonal changes so why not get what you have now under control for the time being!!!! (i also had an annoying little dark hair on my chin and then there were 3!!) but now they are gone for good:) i highly recomend it! plus it doesn't sound like you have too many hairs to dispose of so it should be fairly cheap!!!! a session for me costs about $36 for 3 areas each time i go which is every 3 weeks. you can even check online for places in your area that will do it! good luck!!!:)

Treehugger,
I too have your problem, but more on the sideburns and chin area. Oddly enough I never had thick hair above my lip, but I still shave it sometimes anyway. I used to bleach it, but bleaches can burn or irritate your skin. I tried electrolysis on my sideburns, but it never helped much. I finally decided to go with the epilight laser hair removal. It may or may not be out of your price range, but if this is a big problem for you I would atleast look into it. It is supposed to be a permanent method, although you may still need touch ups. I got it in lots of places and my underarms were the most resistant. My facial hair, however came back much thinner or less often. I don't have to shave everyday now and if I went for another session it would probably zap it for good. I used to pluck the hairs, but if you have too many that's pretty difficult..and painful on your lip! Anyway...talk to a QUALIFIED Doctor and see what your options may be.

SweetPuff,
I just want to ask, how long did your treeatment take and also, did you hair fall during the first week or so of treatment? I;ve had 2 laser treatments on my face and nothing has shed whatspever. This type of laser treatment isnt practical for me at this time. I;m having the ELOS laser treatment done and if Epilight, and i understand that it follows the Intense Pulse Light theory, helps to shed your hair within the first few days, im willing to try that so atleast i dont have to deal with 'bleaching my hair till i comeplete the treatment' which basically translates to me as :Have to be embarassed right now for results that i MIGHT see after 6 months. I'm really annoyed at my laser place for not telling me that i might be rid of hair WHILE im having laser done. Please do let me know of ur experience.

I tweeze any little hairs, but the "Finishing Touch" is good for the neck and whole face. GREAT!!!! :)

I go to a salon and get it waxed. It still grows back of course, but then you can easily keep it clean and hair free. I just go back about every 6 weeks.
