Hi guys,

I am writing this on behalf of a freind who is suffering anxiety/panick aswell as all of us.. she just rang me in tears, i didnt know what to say to her, i said i will pop down tomorrow, so i thought i would write here for some advice..

She is 27 yrs old same age as me, we were in school together, she has a son who is 3, she has been getting these awfull visions as if she has touched her son, in the wrong way, she says she dont know if she has or not !!
She also been getting visions if she has touched another kid or not, visions of being with kids, she cant get rid of them, she is on remeron 30mg same as me, (she is paranoid about medications and wanted same as me and our other freind to try) been on it for a few mnths now, i been on it for nearly a yr!!
what do i do? what can i say to her? is this normal, i must admit i have been through a similar stage that i thought i touched my daughter? but i didnt and it soon all passed, but she said this has been going on with her for weeks and weeks... plse help

Thanking you kindly

Your friend could be reacting badly to the remeron.

It does sound like the remeron is not the right med for her. She should not have asked for a med just because you are on it. Each med reacts differently for each person. You should tell her to talk to her doctor & tell him that the med is not working for her.

She wont take nothing else, as she only trusts meds that other ppl are taking.. this med has helped her, helps her to control panick attacks, anxiety and the depression she suffers, these thoughts came upon her recently within a mnth.. she been on the remeron for 5 mnths.
I just need some advice to give her on these thoughts she is having, she is unable to tell reality from visions? i know i was in this boat few mnths back but i got over it as i knew i had to pull myself together and stop thinking these awfull visions.. she is different to me how ever... she is a little dippy and dont understand why these visions are there!!
She said she cant go near any kids just incase it does happen? this never happened to me so i dont know what to say to her!! i will be popping down there tonight as we r both gonna be alone for new yrs.. plse anyone help!

THANKING YOU ALL KINDLY AGAIN

She is having a VERY common disturbing obsessive thought. Many many people have bad thoughts that have to do with sex, religion, or violence. It's not her fault and she is not an evil or sick person. It's only her anxiety "talking" and it's very very difficult to control. Tell her to read "The Imp of the Mind"
I had the same thoughts she is having: "What if I am a child molestar or some evil person?" It's a very scary thing. The fact that these thoughts disturb her show that they are not part of her nature. They are part of an anxiety disorder. She needs to talk to a therapist about these thoughts and other medications. I am taking Effexor XR and not longer suffer. Big hugs to her!!!

the thoughts do sound like OCD, an anxiety condition which remeron sometimes controls, the remeron dose ,may need to be upped
thoughts by parents about harming their children are common, theres an old doctors joke about having a waiting room full of parents who are thinking about killing their children

books on overcoming OCD have useful advice, you could try ypur local library and get 1 for her

remeron is specifically a depression medication that raises the mood. It is not an anti-anxiety or panic medication. She needs another medication to supplement this if she is having panic problems. As far as OCD she should be on an srri drug that has seritonin propeties. Just my opinion of course but you can research remeron yourself. I have taken it, and it did nothig what so ever for my painc. Good luck

Sincerely,

Sickman :)
