Hi, my name is Dawn, I am 19 and have a son who will be 2 on January 3rd. I am 169 pounds and I'm 5'1. I would like to be anywhere from 115 to 130. I was 125 before I got pregnant. I was the same size I am right now when I was 15 years old. I got really sick and by the next year of school I was 125, size 5. Then 6 months later I got pregnant and I am right back where I started. Since I have no clue on how to lose weight, I am wondering if these things will work? I am going to buy some ankle weights and wear them all day around the house and stuff to help with my legs and give me a little bit more of a workout. I am going to try Trimspa, hopefully it will work. I am going to try to buy a set of the Winsor Pilates tapes, I want to tone as well. Any more help would be greatly appreciated! Thanx!!

Look into the macrobiotic diet. It's a pain in the butt because you're supposed to prepare your food a certain way. It's an acquired taste but it works. I went on and off this diet and I haven't regained the weight. I also used to cheat on this diet - If I decided to eat breakfast it would be oatmeal. On weekends if I wanted fast/restaurant food - I would eat Thai. I also used to cheat on the food prep - I would buy prepared Miso soup instead of making it. I lost about 10 or 15 pounds. I would have probably lost more if I exercised.

Read the thread "How long to lose 25 pounds" to see how I'm losing weight. I think you need cardio each day - the weights may help but could also hurt, depending on how heavy they are (You could get injured is what I'm saying by wearing them too much). The bottom line for weightloss is Eat less/Exercise more. Diet pills are expensive, and who knows exactly what they are doing to your body long term, and in order to benefit, you have to keep taking them, because once you stop taking them, then what?? You're better off using your money to buy some cute clothes once you start losing. That's what I did, and it honestly kept me motivated. When it was evening and I was getting bored and started to think about food, I would go and try on clothes, watching as they started to fit, and then now some are even too big. I try on some of my old "frumpy" baggy jeans and big shirts to remind myself of where I do NOT want to return. Call me vain, but it's helping me a lot.
I'm not sure how much Trimspa is, but you're better off paying a monthy minimum on a Sears card so you can go buy a treadmill. I walk 2.5 miles uphill every day (45 minutes) and it's a great fat burner. Plus I always tape stuff to watch, so the time just flies - and my son plays in the next room while I workout. I know being a mom it's sometimes hard to find the time, so finding things you can do at home is key. Also, enlist some support from your DH/SO if you have one to help you get time to work out.
Good luck!
Edited to add: Weight lifting is GOOD - I was just talking about the wearing of ankle weights all day that could injure you. Also, happy birthday to your little one :) My b-day is also Jan 3rd :)

One more thing... instead of the ankle weights, how about a backpack carrier and carry your son around while you clean? Now THAT is a workout ;)

Less than a month. I'm starting it again next week. This time though I'm going to do pilates so that I can tone up for the summer...
