I've read a few different opinions on nail ridges. eg., fungus, vitamin deficiency, heart/lung circulation problems etc. Years ago I read somewhere, I think, that thumbs reflect the brain and that horizontal ridges on thumbnails meant lack of circulation or nerve flow to/from the brain. I can't find the resource now. This condition comes and goes in severity. Anyone has input or resources on diagnosis for horizontal deep multiple ridges on thumbnails?

I read somewhere that those ridges can indicate iron deficiency.

WOW,
was just talking to my sis about nail ridges this morning. I have fibro and cfs. I noticed about a month ago, that I have ridges, not horizontally, but vertically, and only on the thumb nail. Each nail has only one ridge right in the center of the nail. Also its not just a ridge, its something you can feel and see right away. It goes up right into a bump almost, starting from the moon area. Does anyone know what causes this??
